Second time in three years my steering box is broken: My used tyres are way too big, that is poison for steering. But i never see before broken steering box like this. Normal the fixing make problems, like here: Here some more pics, the last time it broke nearly exactly the same: I was expecting much rust behind the steering, but nearly nothing. Good substance: On outside i already reinforced two years ago: After work i will see if something inseide the body is broken... have you ever seen broken steering like that? greets Jakob

Yes, but usually after a severe impact to the steering. I think you've mentioned the problem already (tyre size).

Most likely impact damage at some stage, I'd guess

Ja, also think its from hard offroad. Steering get blocked right under the steering: Offroad here can work very big pressure. Not good in addition to the fixing moment. So my idea to change the limitatzion for steering to other place: Dont know if there is enough space, but this would be a much better situation for limitaion of steering. Inside body nothing rusty or broken at this area. So i just will put a 3mm steelplate on the innerside and hope next steering box will last for more than one year. This steel plate will fit 100% to the steering box. Original it is not that smooth and planned. greets Jakob

At least you can still get lefthand drive boxes. We would be fairly buggered with a break like that
