Ronnie and his wife Freda visited us today, and both my wife and myself really enjoyed having them at our house !
Ronnie gave me a huge National Flag as present, and my wife , Juliana was spoiled with a beautiful flower bouquet by Freda. (Tomorrow is Mother's day) I passed a positive comment about the National flag in front of Ronnie's house at another post before, and never expected a gift like this......... Thank you so much Ronnie and Freda - both of us really appreciate this wonderful gifts.
We obviously discussed many Lada related things, including the upcoming 2012 "Lada Group Africa Adventure" trip. Ronnie presented many photographs of previous trips to that area, and clearly knows what he is talking about. He also presented a detailed route possibility on his laptop. Two thing are for sure - both of us are committed to get this trip off the ground, and Ronnie knows what he is talking about !
We've had a steak braai for lunch , and Ronnie offered me a test drive with his Lada. What a beautiful little beast - I am jealous !
More details about a possible route will follow soon - we just need some feedback from those members who indicated that they want to join the trip. I will set up a poll in this regard on the "2012 Lada Group Adventure" thread , as soon as possible.
Again, thank you so much for the visit and gifts Ronnie - it has been a great honor to have you and Freda here - we will definitely visit you in future !
Regards
Danie.

Hi Danie
From both of us to both of you, a very big thank you for a great day and a very enjoyable Braai. Thank you for the comments on the Lada and I am sure when you have finished rebuilding yours we will also be jealous of it ;D. There is a lot to think about for our trip, and until there is feed back I said to Danie I will assume you all want to see Vic Falls, Game Reserves, and off road driving in the bush. Danie and Juliana, we would love to see you in Pennington some time soon, and this applies to any Lada friends who happen to be in the area. Hope to see a photo of the flag flying shortly.
Regards
Ronnie

Hi Ronnie Since Juliana saw your Lada she became a "full blown" Lada fan. ;D I do have a slight problem though - she started talking about all sort of funny colors for my Lada which I don't like........... Regards Danie

Hi Ronnie I know this might sound weird, but at the moment my favorite color is the "landrover (to be recovered by a Niva) Camel Trophy sandglow " - color code LRC 361 : Regards Danie

Hi Danie
Not a bad colour for driving in mud and dirt but is it wise for when you travel in Africa when political turmoil is the order of the day as that colour is not far off from desert camo colouring, they might shoot first and ask questions later???

Hi Ronnie / Ari
I am also thinking of black wheel arches, and making a bracket (hinged) to mount the spare tyre just above the bonnet.............
Ari, hopefully they will like the Lada so much, and forget to start shooting. ;D

Hi Danie
Hope you can lift the wheel. For me, on the Landy with the wheel on the bonnet, it took a super human effort to lift it.(I am small) :)Don`t know what it will be like lifting it with hinges at the front, difficult I think.

Hi Ronnie
The wheel will be hinged on one leg only, and swinging sideways - it will not be mounted on the bonnet., just as close as possible above the bonnet.

Hi Danie
Then you should be OK. If you decide to use the bonnet all you need to do is reinforce it on the inside starting at the hinges with some kind of "stop" at the screen side. Seeing over it should not be a problem as long as you are not too small.

Hi All Danie and Julianna visited us today. Had a great time with plenty to discuss. Danie is very excited about his supercharger, but I think it will be quite some time before it is operational. You can all look forward to plenty of photo`s from Danie tonight (i think). Thank you both for the visit, we should do it more often Ronnie

Hi Ronnie and Freda
We are safely back at home, ans wish to thank you for a great day and wonderful lunch - we do appreciate all your trouble in preparing such a great meal.
We should definitely visit more often, and you are welcome to visit us whenever you find yourself in this area. Because of Juliana's working conditions it is not always easy for us to get away for visits during weekends - but we hope to get away more often in future.........
Again, thanks a lot for everything.
Regards
Danie
