Hi all - What a most excellent day yesterday, with lots of help from Ari, the lada moved.. it actually made it around the block. Ari, you are worth your weight in gold or platinum ;D ;D. Good news though, the lada is not as bad as what I though it was. Body is terrible and needs heaps of work, but at least it goes.. All, I can say is if all Lada owners are as willing to help and take time out of there day to give advice, be friendly and generally be good guys, then I'm glad I'm a member of this forum.

Hi Jacky Moved your latest post here. I am the "grumpy old man" on the forum Please post some pictures of your NIVA. Then we can all follow and you'll have a permanent record of the progress. Glad the NIVA is running. They are basic cars to work and and are extremely forgiving. Just tension the cam shaft drive chain regularly every 10000 km, otherwise that will bite back with dire consequences. Spikes

It drives ok, the steering is very heavy though, but the tyres looked soft so if you pump them up it will improve.
It is very rusty around the windows and has a few dents here and there.
Motor sounds healthy, but I would give the radiator a flush and replace the coolant and oil.
Diffs TC and GB felt ok except for the vibration on acceleration due to TC mis-alignment which is due to the mountings on the floor pan being bent and jumps out of 4th which is most likely the thrust ring. I would replace all diff GB and TC oils as well.

Well done Ari, it makes me proud to be a forum member when I read these stories.
Jacky now that you can actually drive your car, you will find there is far more motivation to get her to a point where you can enjoy her. I've always found that there is nothing more demotivating than a lawn ornament.
