Hello I must explain something first, the Lada is my hubby's but its my pet project. Now he tells me I first need to get new tyres and hubs and there is something about the PCD and brakes and also a new battery. Now my first of many many questions is: 1. What is a PCD? 2. What tyres does the Lada use? 3. Do I need to get new rims if so which ones will fit? 4. And there is something about the brakes? They metal or something? And if they are can I change them and to what? The battery problem I read up on past threads on the site so at least I know which one to buy now. HEEEELLLLPPP

Hi Jacky Which model NIVA are we talking about here. There are basically 2 types. The 1600 most distinctive characteristic is the spare that is mounted on the rear and dashboard that has several small round gauges. The 1700 models all have the spare mounted under the bonnet. They come in two engine variations, The carburettor model and the Fuel injected model. The fuel injected one has the 1.7i designation on the rear lid. What is wrong with the engine, or rather what was wrong before it got parked? The standard rim for the NIVA is a 16 rim which takes as std 175/80R16 tyre. Tubeless tyres fit the original russian rims. Tyres were imported and are available by contacting Marius. See this link locsa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=announce&action=display&thread=452. Some tyres shops aslo started stocking the Nakangs. So you could try locally Some of the imported NIVAs where locally fitted with "Sidekick" 15" alloy rims. They are slightly wider than the 16" rims. They take 195/100R15 tyres "PCD" has me floored. Is it not something with transfer case that he is referring to or central differential lock perhaps? Brake discs can be obtained from Autozone and the pads can be bought from them as well. See the links that I sent you. Good luck! Spikes

A PCD is pitch circle diameter. On the lada it is 139.7mm. Its the diameter of the circle that goes though the centre of all 5 your wheel studs where the rim bolts onto the hub.
Depends on the rim size, most ladas have 15 and 16 inch rims, so you will need to tell me what writing you can find on the current old tyres, and some photos of your lada will be helpful also.
You dont need new rims unless the old ones are buckled or badly bent.
Did he say you need brake pads? or new brake discs?
Ari

Hi Everyone
So I got the following spec on the lada, surprise the lada is 3 years younger than me.. haha
AGE 29 MODEL Niva AND ENGINE OF THE LADA 1600 Fiat AND WHATS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AGAIN.. Apart from them coming out as standard in Aluminium drums...they need decent setting. Had them done but not very happy.
As you can tell I emailed him during work and got the following responses.
