I have removed mine on the 1.7i and rear locks up. But not far before the front though. Can still stop safely and works fine.

Mine is removed and I have no locking issues, but that could be because the rear brakes are also removed.

Hi All
My last Niva had one but was not cnnected. I found when braking hard the back wheels could lock. I fitted a new linkage (the compliments of Hercules) and that solved the problem.

Hi Guys
Its been a while. Does anyone know what grease I'm supposed to use on the piston of the Brake Pressure Regulator, and in the rubber boot of the regulator?
Thanks

Hi Ronnie Thanks. I was reading through the Turbo Nutter website, and I came across an article stating that the grease that needs to be used is an AT-1 grease. I think that's a Russian grease. Do you know what's equivilant of that? Dheer

Hi,
Maybe send vincent a pm and ask him. When it comes to lubricants he is the best person to speak to.

Hi Dheer
I think Vincent is the best person to ask. For me I will always use a rubber grease where there are seals involved. I also think the boot should be full of grease to help keep water out as this seems to be the biggest problem with this valve as they rust and seize. When you open one the boot sometimes has water trapped inside.

Vincent says to use a "Red rubber Grease", the actual product to use as in the OEM application costs about R600/kg. The grease is to prevent the seal from swelling.

Tjeers Steve Hi All The red rubber grease can be used where you have seals, like in brake cylinders etc. The big thing if you want the brake equalizer to last is to stop water and moisture getting inside the rubber boot. I would happily lubricate the regulator with good waterproof grease. Thin CV joint grease would be fine. Coppaslip should also be in order unless you can beg/borrow some of that doepa that Vincent is recommending No offence intended, Vincent & Ihar(Steve for Chris aka Spencer) Spikes

Hi Spikes
I would be very care full about using anything but rubber grease as you could end up using the wrong grease and it will affect the seal on the piston. You will get red rubber grease at any spares shop and it is not expensive. That way you run no risk of damage. Any grease you put inside the boot is in contact with the piston and seal.

Thanks Ronnie. I'll keep rrg on my shopping list. Here in Nelspruit/White River area I just get blank stares from counter staff. I'll have to service the regulator as I had several deep water crossings since November 2012 and brake regulation becomes important on dry gravel during winter

Red rubber grease is actually quite expensive over here compared to other mainstream grease products.

Hi Spikes and Marius
I bought the red rubber grease in Park Rynie at the spares shop I always used and it was not expensive. They sold it in very small tubs and 2 were enough for the valve. Can`t remember the price but it was not much. If you remember the old plastic tube that the 35mm films were in, that was about the size.
Ronnie
PS Vincent could get it for you as he knows where I went.

I had a VERY quick look Ronnie. Castrol UK sells their 400-500gm MS and Red Rubber grease for approximately 5.5 GBP and 6.5 GBP respectively. Not a great difference in price in the UK. A tub of Castrol Red Rubber Grease in SA would cost you R160+. That is about R70 more expensive than what you could get it for in the UK.
Locally > In greater quantaties you can get 15kgs worth of Lithium Complex grease for around R700, whilst the same amount of Red Rubber Grease will set you back around R1500 - more than twice the price of the Lithium based product!
"Red rubber grease is actually quite expensive over here compared to other mainstream grease products." > from my earlier post.

Hi Marius
You should know me, I do not even like paying for something, I like it for nothing. ;D. I did not pay much for the red rubber grease in SA. If it had been much I would have remembered. Just been on Goggle earth, the spares shop is Pillays motor spares 2ND Avenue Park Rynie KZN. Unfortunately I could not see the phone number or I would have phoned them tomorrow for a price.
