hi everyone....Ricci here from Bredell in Kempton Park... have had a Lada for 10 years now and last year decided to replace the motor and gearbox with a 4y and 5speed Cressida box (chinese built)..the best thing I have ever done !!! these motors are the best , my motor was totally underwater before we insatlled it due to a flood, replaces the carb, opened and cleaned the rest and it runs great.. I will post pics of the conversion, which was painless we even used one of the original engine mounts in its exact position..took out the front wheel drive system..and now have an awesome vibrationless Lada that can still out perform most 4x4 out there...just hit the highway and stay in 5th.. awesome torque..I was luckily GIVEN a lada aircon unit by Jan (believe it or not) and will now be fitting it in the near future... cheers til next time... ;D

Welocme Ricci
That conversion is becoming more and more popular. One of the members (KingRiaan) also did that conversion but kept his 4x4. Another member (Douw) Did it but with a auto box conversion also 2wd.
Did you change the radiator? Also does your speedo work off the 21r gearbox?
regards
Charles

Welcome Ricci! I told you that you would not be alone with your Toylada but you're right it sure can go. The pics don't do it justice, looks much better in real life. Pity its not back in Umkomaas My leg seems to be ok now so I'm not going for the automatic box, Ventz will be fixing original one. Cheers for now SJ
