My Lada's wheel bearing started making strange sounds so I took it to the mechanic and got the correct bearing according to the list on this site (which helped a lot - my appreciation to the compiler of that list) But the mechanic now need the wheel bearing seal (oil seal). Can anyone please give me the part number or supplier as Sealtec in Witbank are pleading a state of total confusion. (en bewusteloosheid)

Or do a sealed bearing conversion... Charles Charles, sorry for being a bit ignorant. I'm not very technical (spend too many years at University when my mates were more practical). What is a sealed bearing conversion? (I'm very eager to learn) Christiaan

It where the hub gets machined out to fit a sealed bearing. No seals needed, never have to repack, cant get grease in.

The wheel bearings are sealed Charles, but there is still an oil seal to stop the diff oil coming out at the wheels.

Steve, the guy from Bearing Man said it is a very common seal. The mechanic said its too tight. So I took it back and they will try to get an inner dimension of 216 (55cm) for me or a 225 (56cm) . They were very helpful. The Sealtec 212x287x3/8 was tight but a better fit. Sealtec 225 was a bit loose. I took the Sealtec 212 and will test it while bearing man will try to get me a 55cm 216. The outer diameter 287 is perfect. As I have confessed I'm not very technical but are learning fast and have a very patient mechanic.

Thanks for Christiaan, I am very glad you have patient mechanic. Those seals will test his own patience Please keep us posted Spikes Thanks for the warning. Ventz emailed me and said he has experience with those seals that I got from Sealtec and they WILL LEAK at the outer side of the seal. Thanks Ventz!! You could have let me learn the hard way but was so kind to warn me. I phoned the mechanic and he confirmed the seals do have a slip fit and not a tight fit at the outside dimension. So I'll rather order the right seal from Ventz. Deksels, ... if it wasn't for you guys I would have stepped into a huge dog doodle.

Thanks Jan Who are the producers of you aftermarket seals, Please? Spikes MS = Motor Sport (germany) I've used them, but they aren't a tight fit on the outside as they are complete made out of rubber. The OEM's are metal on the outside and fit better.

No problems here, before I opted for the fully packed via grease nipples option I toyed with the idea of sealed bearings, I couldnt get hold of sealed taper roller bearings so I gave up but I spotted that sealed bearing mod on here yesterday and Im keen again! they are obviously roller bearing. thinking thinking thinking
