It was great and I never broke anything which is even better. Pics will be coming soon. The nobblies were magic.
1.2 bar and unbeatable although I do now have 30mm of water in my headlights. Those wheels are great thru mud, over rocks(wet & dry), dirt roads. I gave those toyota people somthing to think about and really knocked the socks off the rest.
I did what Ronnie said about checking the headlights for the correct globes and found mine were also 90/100 W I changed 2 days before we left and it seems to work better. I now have to go to all that trouble again as there is water in them, and it is a mission what with the bullbar and headlight wipers.
We had a slight problem in a deep water crossing as the motor cut out. As I was in 2nd low I changed to 1st low and turned the key after checking the water height at the side of the bonnet and it was just over the wheel arches. I had a scary moment there and so did the other drivers, they could not believe it when she started and I drove out.
On the way back we had to drive back thru that river and I made it across with no problems.
I can also add that the weber carb did not give any trouble and there were some steep bits where the Nissans and Toyotas spun a bit but those nobblies dont spin easily. they only spun in the deep river which had a loose rocky bottom.

Sounds great Ari - looking forward to see the pics.
I assume you were the only Lada owner who attended the event ?

Hi Ari
It is a very underrated vehicle, and can take on the best of them. The smaller wattage lamps seem to give better light than the big ones, don`t know why.I also never had any problems with the Webber carb and preferred it to the original.

Hi Ari To restart the car in deep water like that is apparently quite dangerous to do. If the water level is higher than the exhaust you can easily suck water into the engine Another thing to check for - if you still have the standard breathers - is to drain any water from the boxes. An oil change would be a good thing if water was found (white fluid) A nice tip to save your rear brakes is to step lightly onto the brake pedal whilst driving - for a few seconds. That keeps the rear drums nice and dry. Hope the Toy boys showed some respect ;D

Hi
There were 2 other ladas. 1 was standard and had competed in the gymkana and the other was the one I saw in the traffic 2 weeks ago. This 1 has a 3.0L ford V6 motor and hilux gearboxes, axles, transfer box, steering, and suspension. It was also lifted onto a shortened hilux chassis. This blue lada never took part but I think the owner was a marshal.
I will check the oils once the rain stops as I don't have a closed garage.
About starting in water , I don't think that can happen as on the exhaust stroke the piston is moving upwards forcing air out , therefore not sucking. My worry was that some water could be sucked thru the carb but as I said I looked outside and saw the level was below that level and I was concerned for the startermotor and alternater.

Hi Ari You need to be careful as you can suck water up the exhaust and can hydraulic lock the motor and will even bend con rods. Glad you enjoyed it and kept the Lada flag flying ;D. Regards Ronnie

Hi
I found something today that broke on the weekend, my pet shop one-way valve on the intake manifold piping, but a new one will only cost about R10.
