Hi All, Got tired of looking at "my renovated" dashboard and decided to do my own improvements. Armed with a piece of panellite, thin foam, black leatherette and glue the photo shows the new and improved Lada dashboard. Regards Ronnie

Nice job mate- The dash on mine is terribly disfigured. I'll do this to mine- I like that the fiddly cavity bits on top of the dash are now a uniform suface.
Later.

Hi Ronnie That really looks good. My Lada's steering wheel needs some renovation - not sure what to do yet......... Regards Danie hi danie, if you mean the cover is starting to feel loose because of sitting in the sun,you should be able to find a place that will inject a silicon into it. makes it feel new again. just had it done to my commodore.

Hi Andy Correct - the sun has damaged the top part of the steering wheel, and unfortunately a piece of the cover broke off, so there is a gap of about 15 mm.

Hi All
Forgot to mention to do this properly you need to remove the complete dash. It is not difficult and takes about 1 hour. The front edge of the panelite has 3 layers bonded together to get the top level from back to front and has 3 x M5 screws captive in the panelite to fix it to the dash. The instrument cowl is covered separately and the joins cannot be seen as they are covered when finished. You also need to make a small section to the right of the instruments to finish it off.
Regards
Ronnie

Hi All. New carpets and under felt My Lada had 80% of the under felt missing. What was there did not smell good. I have replaced it all with a double layer of felt and proper car carpeting. It is now much quieter and smells good. While I had all the trim out I also sealed a small crack in the fuel separator tank behind the side trim. [used s solder iron] It was all worth the effort. ;D Regards Ronnie

Thanks Danie
Remember I have more spare time than you. Actually every day is a spare day. Ari appears to have more holidays than any of us. I see he must be away again as he is missing from the forum. No doubt he will have some comment to this when he returns. I will bring the Lada for you to see one of these days.
Regards
Ronnie

Hi Ronnie- do you remember the name of the carpet you used? The carpet place near the workshop only has that horrible "office" carpet that they make thinner, so that they can tell you it's ideal for cars.
Bye bye

Hi all
I am planning on recovering the floor on my lada aswell. Only one problem is that the idiot who installed the corolla seats welded the frames to the floor. I can remove the seats but will have to cut the frames out and then modify them and bolt them to the floor. Will post a pic tomorrow.

Hi Darryn
Sorry I can`t tell you but I bought it from a upholstery supply co in Jhb. The carpet is for cars and I am sure there must be a supplier in Pretoria. If you are in Jhb the co is Supreme plastics on the corner just down from Jepe Police Station.

Thanks Ronnie.
Man I laughed at the over eager welding of your seats Charlie... People never seem to ask themselves "well, how will I get this unstuck one day?" before they weld. Rather drill and bolt/rivet it down. But I must say, soon, I will put Corolla seats in mine. They are quite comfy and sturdy. I'm a bit over 100kg, and if I were to be rear-ended, that seat will snap like a twig.
OK, bye.

Hi Darryn
The worst is that the seat isn't even level. It is about 1 cm lower on the left side.
