Hi Ari It might be worthwhile to find out from the Russian supplier if those engine sumps will fit on the standard Fiat 1.9 TD engines - fitted in the local Fiat Strada Ldv's.
If so, it might be cheaper to get an engine sump from Russia, a local Fiat 1.7 TD in good condition, as well as a Fiat 131 bellhousing -with starter on the passenger side of the vehicle. (On some Fiat 131 bellhousings the starters were fitted on the driver side).
The Lada gearbox bolts directly on the 131 bellhousings, and the 131 bellhousing bolts directly on the Fiat TD engine. Getting a loose sump from Russia might be a cheaper, and easier solution - rather than modifying a local Fiat TD engine sump.
I assume the "Ladaworld" diesel will be a straight bolt on unit, while one has to make mounting brackets for the local Fiat 1.7 TD's.
Only catch obviously, is to get hold of the Russian supplier of the diesel engines.........
Regards
Danie

I just clicked on this link at the Ladaworld website : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JTD_engineOn the right hand side of the above mentioned website, it clearly indicates "Manufacturer- Fiat Group / General Motors" and that the Fiat JTD engines are also called CDTi (Opel).Which raise another question - are the Astra / Corsa diesel engines in South Africa exactly the same as the engines in the local Fiats ? peugoets, focus, citron, freelander and a few more have the same "family" of diesels.
I would kill for a peugeot 308 diesel 2l in my Niva!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
