Motivated by all the beautiful pics on this website, I started building myself a lift kit during spare time at work. I hope to fit nice 215 or 225 off road tyres on my Trailduster rims - so started working on a 50 mm lift kit. The kit includes: 1. 50 mm Polyurethane rings for the rear coils. 2. Various bushes for a front coil plate lift. 3. New (stronger) bottom shock absorber mounting brackets. 4. 30 mm stainless steel Balljoint spacers This pic shows the complete kit - the National flag is just to brighten things up a bit. The coils still needs to be epoxy coated - can't make up my mind about the color yet. Danie

Hi Danie
When can you show us a pic of it installed on your lada?
A few before and after pics

Hi Ronnie / Ari
Thanks Ronnie - I haven't thought of making kits to sell, but should there be any interest, I can always make a plan.
For the time being, I am simply too busy doing other things. Still need to do a lot on my Lada, and I have to do urgent repairs on one of my motorcycles as well.
Ari, I hope to install the kit quite soon, and will send some pics as soon as possible. My Lada still needs to be spray painted, and I initially thought that I will send pics after the paint job - perhaps I can send some pics a bit earlier.
Regards
Danie

Apparently 30 mm Balljoint spacers are too big, and cause positive camber problems - so I decided rather to make new 20 or 23mm stainless steel spacers.
Haven't started yet.

Hi Danie
I see your rear rings are 50mm. Wouldn't that then lift the rear by 100mm and the front only by 50mm?

Hi Charles
I raised this issue with a guy in Belgium (Walby), and he confirmed that a 50 mm ring at the rear spring will give a 50mm lift at the rear axle only.
The info in this regard at Baxter's site does not seem to be 100% correct. I still need to install the rings though - so maybe somebody else would be able to confirm.

I have 25mm spacers in the rear which lifts the rear just under 50mm, raising the rear brings the rear wheels forward which on high lifts can cause problems. And 20 mm balljoint spacers

Hi Bobby
Thanks for the info.
The guy in Belgium has extended the stabilizer arms on his Lada - so I guess it all depends whether the stabilizer arms are standard or not.
If the stabilizer arms are longer than standard, I guess the rings should be wider to give the same lift............

Yeah if the arms are lengthened (like in LADA factory lift kits) the wheel/axle wont move forward with the lift so no guard contact issues will occur, but 50mm lift seems to cause no problems as long as outrageous tyres arnt used, ie under 29 inch dia.

Hi Danie
That makes sense. I have seen pics of lifted ladas where the rear wheels almost touch the body at the front. So loger arms and bigger rings might be better. Why did you go with tubes for the front and not wedges? Is the tubes better?

Hi Charles
I just thought it might be easier to make the bushes at the lathe, instead of making wedges. And to be honest, I like "playing" at the lathe whenever possible.....

Hi Danie
You are lucky to have access to lathe. I will have to get everthing made up by an engineering shop.
