Now may be a good time to do basic maintenance on you NIVA's cooling system.
Here are a few ideas for consideration:
1. With light water pressure, spray the exterior of the core clean. Do this from the engine bay to the front. It may be necessary to remove the radiator cowl to doe a proper job.
2. Remove the grill and brush out any loose debris on the radiator. Replace grill
3. If you do not know when the Anti freeze was last replaced, buy enough for the 50:50 refill.
4. Remove all major radiator hoses(watch out for the bottom R hose. You don't want antifreeze into the alternator).
5 Inspect interior of hoses for wall separation. Replace if in doubt.
6 Remove fan belt and inspect for cracks. Replace if in doubt.
7 Inspect water pump for play in shaft or roughness in rotation.
8 Test thermostat for full opening in boiling water.
9 Replace all hoses and refill/bleed radiator as per workshop manual(See links below)
10 While running engine check for any leaks
11. Tighten all hose clamps slightly while hot
