Hi. I just joined your group. I have a 1600 that i pulled out from between the trees on a farm 3 years ago and the venture started with stripping and fixing of minor parts and giving her a new coat of paint. I since used it as a toy for some fun in the mountains. I recently decided that she must become a everyday runner as well. So I came to this forum to share my experience and problems with all. Hein

Hi Hein
Welcome to the Forum.
I think all of us are looking forward to hear about your experience. There are still many 1600 Ladas running around, and the more information we can get about this little beasts, the better.
Your Lada really looks good - one would never think she has been rescued from the bush before !
Any contribution will be appreciated - so please feel free to share your Lada experience here.
Regards
Danie.

Thanks for all the welcome notes.
I spend most of the last 2 days scanning all the info on this forum. I've had my Lada for 3 years now and spend most of my extra time and money on it. I thought I learned a lot while working on it, but think i learned double that from all the advice in this forum.
My extra time is very limited as I started late in my life with my studies in Engineering. So I rely on my dad who is retired to do some of the work. Which he loves as it keeps him busy.
My current project on the Lad involve removing of engine, gearbox, TC and steering as I picked up a water leak on the back of the head and decided if the engine has to come out then it all needs to be inspected. I found a lot of problems as the vehicle was badly abused by its previous owners.
I just want to say in advance thanks for the help on where to get the clutch and how to line up the TC with gearbox, also saw some extra mountings for TC that I will be implementing to eliminate vibration.
As I live in PE, resources are very limited and I went to visit Jan last year for the first time and think his parts are a bit pricey, so any help is appreciated. I will also assist where i can.
Thanks

Hi Hein
Please do not hesitate to send posts and pics about your rebuild. As said before, there are still many 1600's in the country, and any information about a rebuilt project could be very helpful.
Parts for the 1600's are "dirt cheap" if ordered directly from Russia.
Good luck, and keep us posted.
Regards
Danie
