Hey guys. Thanks for the advice. I never even thought of the vw mod. I've done the conversion from points to electronic on my 2door golf, so shouldn't have a problem with that.
Now to machine the collar and adapter. Where could I find an old lada dizzy shaft though?
Many thanks Brandon

Hi Brandon,
Sparky used the VW distributed and had a collar made-up to fit the hole in the NIVA block. He is on forum right now. Perhaps you can catch him with a PM

Thanks man. I've already dropped him.a message. He'll pull out his dizzy and do measurements for me. Then I'll get one of the guys at work to machine it for me.

Ok so I've been told by another Lada owner not on the forum who also has the Fiat DOHC engine that a Lada dizzy works in the engine.
So does anyone have a spare Lada dizzy for sale that I could buy if it fits?

Hi Danie
Thanks for the links. That mod with the spacer and clamp looks like it will work hundreds. Did you do the same mod on your engine? And if so how did you make your clamp to hold the dizzy down.
Thanks Brandon

Hi Brandon I've done a similar mod - in fact ( for what it's worth ) as far as i know I've done the first mod of this kind on the globe. Unfortunately I have not installed the Fiat engine yet. Some time ago Big Trev and Bobbyd from Australia, as well as myself have discussed the possibility of doing this modification, and Bobbyd has also machined bushes for himself , as well as Big Trev. Big Trev's (similar) modification proved to work very well, but I am not sure whether Bobbyd's Fiat engine has been installed yet. A photo of Big Trev's clamp can be found somewhere at the Aussie link above. My own clamp is slightly different - I've just used pieces of Angle Iron, as well as a longer Stud: The original Lada clamp is an exact copy of the Fiat clamp, so you can just use a Lada clamp at the top to clamp the Dizzy down. Danie P.S. The Blue Fiat engine at the Locsa link (above) is mine, and has been repainted in red (see pics above).

Hi Dannie
Thanks for the pics and I jusy want to say you did a very neat mod. Great work. Did you fit a new cambelt tensioner to your engine? It looks new. I'm looking to replace mine if I can find one.

Hi Brandon
Thanks for the complement.
Charles is correct - I could not find a tensioner locally, and have imported one from Israel.
I will try to find the e.Bay (Israel) link, and post it here. If I remember correctly, the supplier might have a suitable tensioner for your engine as well.

Hi Brandon I have ordered the tensioner from this supplier: stores.ebay.com/Kal2208?_rdc=1Unfortunately there seem to be no Fiat 125 / 132 tensioners available any longer. The tensioner which I have ordered has been listed as "Fiat 125 / 132 Tensioner"so I assume the 125 / 132 tensioners are exactly the same. Danie

Hi Danie
thanks for your efforts. I really appreciate it. It's a pitty about the cam belt tensioner from e-bay though. Wonder why he no longer lists it. Do you possibly have a part no. so I can cross reference.
many thanks Brandon

Hi Brandon
The part which I have ordered is actually a loose Bearing - it gets mounted to a separate bracket.
According to records in my possession the bearing has been listed as:
" Fiat 125 / 132 Cam Tensioner Bearing BREDA #310337566242 ".
You can also do a Google search by using the words "Fiat 132 timing belt tensioner e.bay ". There seem to be a similar bearing available at a UK e.bay store, but the price is absolutely shocking.
I also saw another Fiat 132 Tensioner at a different UK e.Bay store, but it looks different from mine, and according to the store the Fiat 132's came with two different types of Tensioners .
I will try to find the link this evening.
So there is a possibility that the Tensioner on your engine is different from the one on my engine.

Hey Danie
Thanks for the links. I'll take mine off and measure it to see if it's the same as yours or if it's different. It might just be because I saw that there is 2 different length cambelts available 146tooth and 148tooth.
Many thanks Brandon

Hi Brandon The e.Bay link which indicated two different types of Tensioners for the Fiat 132's can be found here: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-132-TENSIONER-2-0D-78-81-OE-QUALITY-/300613765039Just click on the link, and scroll down at the link - the bearing which I have ordered can be seen towards the bottom of the link. I think you just need to compare the tensioner at your engine with the pics at the e.Bay link - hopefully the tensioner at your engine looks like the the one at the top of the link, which is still available. Sorry to hear about Danie. Thanks for the number Ari. I ordered the bearing from another supplier in America. Still waiting for it to arrive though. It's been 4 weeks now.
