Hi guys, My son has recently bought a 2002 Niva I think (1st registration Feb 2002). It was not looked after properly and we are trying to prepare for a RWC. With lots of reading up on Nivas, we are looking forward to get it on the road again. I would like to get in touch with other Lada Niva owners in the Helderberg area close to Gordon's Bay.

Welcome to the forum, Darrel!! There are about 9 active members in and around Cape Town If you have not yet done so, the manuals are available for download on the LOCSA website (Blue button above). Importing you own spares is feasible BUT you have Mike(The Lada Doctor) on your doorstep Enjoy the rebuild Spikes

Hi Darrel, welcome to the wonderful world of Lada ownership. I am sure that you meant your first registration was in 1999, not 2009. 2009 model would be left hand drive and probably have a 1.9D Peugot motor. Photos of your sons Niva are most welcome. Please feel free to ask any questions you need to, we are a very helpful bunch of people here and a lot of people have a vast knowledge for Lada's. There are a few local parts suppliers, try Mike in the Durbanville area and Ventz in Pietermaritzburg, but parts are a lot cheaper when imported directly. Check the Spare Parts suppliers thread for their details. A good resource for first time Lada Owners is Baxters Lada page - www.ladaniva.co.uk/baxter/NivaMainPage.htmI would check in with Mike as being from the Western Cape, he has probably worked on the vehicle at some stage and may be able to provide you some valuable knowledge and history as to that particular Niva. Please feel free to browse the forum and we are always available to provide guidance and technical knowledge.
