Take it from me that a 100 mm lift will give you A LOT of problems and it will cost you a lot of extra work and plenty $$ to ge it ok. I know, my Niva has a 12 cm lift. To answer your question: the back 50 mm rings = 50 mm lift the front: 50 mm rings will give you none or very little lift without additional ball joint spacers please use the search utility, it works great. Lots of info here: locsa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=technical&action=display&thread=939

Hi All I will be making ball joint spacers, got the drawing and sizes of ball joint and back spacers, just need to get the drawing for the front coil spacers. Have seen the thread of just putting ball joint spacers in for a lift but I am busy building a steel bumper for the front so the extra weight will need coil spacers Thanks Dewald Attachments:

Thanks Dewald

A bit off topic now - but will the front diff cover plate touch the front suspension tube if the engine gets lowered by about 30 mm?
My Lada has been stripped quite some time ago, and I can't remember how close the front diff is to the suspension tube.
I am thinking of lowering the engine slightly, by using smaller rubber mountings, as well as slight mod to the engine mounting brackets. This should decrease the CV angles which will be caused by a lift.

Thanks Charles, with your help there will be no need for me to install the engine and diff to see whether a mod like this will be possible. Just another request - could you also have a look whether the Lada engine sump will touch the suspension tube if the engine gets lowered by 30 mm ? I have decided to re - install my Lada's original engine for the time being - therefore I will appreciate details about the clearances on the Lada sump as well. By the way, I have received a set of tyres from Safari Tyres yesterday. The tyre size and looks are similar to Ari's - only difference, the name of the tyres has been changed to "Bulldogs". Danie P.S. I have fabricated my lifting kit / contraption about two years ago - hopefully it will work:

Thanks Danie, that reminds me, I need to add a diff cover plate to my ever increasing list of things I need to add back to Sharkie.

Hi Charles
When you check the clearances, could you also have a look whether the steering rod will touch the rear of the sump when the engine gets lowered ?
Many thanks
Danie

Hi Danie
I am sorry I thought today was tomorrow (saturday). I could not get round to even touch the Niva. I will do it tomorrow. I will then post it asap. Sorry for the delay.

Hi Charles
No problem.
Your help will save me a lot of energy and time, so if you can think of any reason why the engine could not be lowered, please let me know.
Please have a close look at the steering rod underneath the oil sump as well...
Many thanks.

Hi Danie. The steering rod (drag link i think) is very close to the sump. I have 20mm gap there.

Hi Danie
In my opinion I do not think there is enough room to drop the engine. With the flexing that it does on the mountings it will touch. You might be able to drop the diff a bit to decrease the angles but not the engine. It looks to be as low as possible in the stock position.

Hi Danie You might be able to drop the diff a bit to decrease the angles but not the engine. Charles Great idea Charles - I will fabricate 6 spacers from 16 mm Flat Bar, and mount it between the Diff, and the three diff Brackets. If possible, I am going to use two of the spacers at each Bracket - to lower the Diff by 32mm. Will also have to use longer Bolts then. If the Propshaft will then touch the Stabilizer Bar, I will try to find a solution. Danie

To do that you might have to remove the anti roll bar.

That's the bar I was referring to. I prefer not to remove it - a mod should be possible, if needed.
