Why did you do the conversion? Did you do the alu welding yourself? Are you running batch fuelling? Still using the dizzy or did you go the coil pack route? Getting tuned on a dyno or on the street?

Charles. I dont like or trust carbs so much. I dont like it when u put your foot down at low revs and it poer poers until it there is enough air flow to let the carb do its job. No i did not do the welding. Sadly i dont have cash to buy a ac dc tig welder since i have 2 ladas. It has not been on a dyno yet (to scared to see the w hp) but it is street tuned with a laptop. With the lamda sensor u can get it close to a dyno tune. Still running a dizzy was to lazy for coil packs. Wil do it in future when all else is working.

Charles. I am running split fuelling 2 injectors at a time. When i get my tig welder i want to make a new intake. This one i am not proud of. It looks like sprinkler system out of a garden.

Hi Roons,
I ordered the standard Niva multi-point fuel injection inlet manifold complete with the fuel rail and injectors from Pavel. It is not a standard bolt-on however because the inlet ports on the head must be made bigger, but that is all - the rest is stock standard if you keep the Niva normally aspirated. The computer/engine management system must obviously be fitted, but is a no-brainer if you know what a "Spitronic" is and if you can tune with a laptop. In my view the standard Niva throttle body and inlet ducting should not be used but I may be wrong.
Just make sure you use the right gauge wiring when you modify as there is a world of a difference between the carb Niva and a fuel injected Niva when it comes to the harness.
I hope the above is of some help.
Regards,

Thanks for the info! I did not know u can fit that intake on a carb head. A spitronics ecu has its own harnass relays and fuses. Only need a good live and earth and the rest is signal and driver wires. The old ignition harness comes out. What did u pay for your inlet? I am very exited about your info.

Hi Fanus and Ruan
If you want more power/torque out of the std NIVA 1.7 the Lada TBI is not the route to go. Go the full MPI from Lada as Fanus is doing. There is very little difference between the TBI performance and that of a well set up Carb 1.7 NIVA. The ECU does not really lend itself for effective tuning. There is a write up on Baxters about it.

Spikes. No tbi has not crossed my mind. Il go for multi point like fanus said. My modified intake is multi point. I am shure the multi point injection intake wil have better air flow and look better than mine. Multi point = 4 injectors at the ports??

Ruan, is the TBI or Carb fuel pump?
I am fixing a TBI atm which I suspect has a fuel pressure problem, will know more tomorrow.
If it is a TBI, please consider it "booked" for now

Looking great, Ruan.
Glad you stuck to white. To me that is still the classic NIVA colour

Ruan, is the TBI or Carb fuel pump? I am fixing a TBI atm which I suspect has a fuel pressure problem, will know more tomorrow. If it is a TBI, please consider it "booked" for now The fuel pressure problems, after many hours of pondering and searching, we discovered was due to a lack of fuel in the tank. Put in 5litres and suddenly the fuel pressure went from .4 bar to just over 2 bar. The fuel gauge was reading full when we turned the ignition so it was the last thing to cross our minds. The float on the fuel pump was stuck against the side of the pump. No I better run and hide before I get very badly flamed ...

Ruan I wish I had the time, money and space to do a respray like that. I will most likely only be doing a blow over paint job on my Niva later in the year.

Around R800 Charles. Labour is what you pay for. So if u can do it your self a save alot. A respray wil cost u around 15k thats more than half the cars value and not realy worth it. But u do need some tools though. At least 100l compressor good spray gun, under coating gun and a buffing machine.
