Hello. I was wondering if anyone could please give me advice, I have wanted a niva lada for as long as I can remember and now would like to get one but I am worried that I wont be able to get parts or have the car repaired, are there garages that repair these cars and can you get parts easily??. And is it a reliable car! Any advice would be so welcome. Thank you Regards Jackie

Hi Jackie In what area are you in? For a good niva I would reccomend you contack Ventz. He rebuilds Ladas to factory condition. Parts isnt a problem. Normal service parts can be found at any spares shop. Other parts you can order from Pavel. He finds himself in the Ukraine. His website is www.ladapower.com If you need something that isnt in stock drop him a mail at barter2007(at)gmail.com With EMS most parels take about 10 days. Best is all the parts are dirt cheap. Regards Charles P.s If you need more info feel free to send me a pm.

Hi Jackie
We all love our Nivas. And if you buy one that hasn't been abused too much, then it will be easy and inexpensive to keep it in good order. If you want someone who's seen the ropes to help you then I'm willing to help. I have extra time.
Laters Darryn.

Hi Jackie I don't know your personal circumstances but the best way to keep a Lada going is to do DIY as much as possible. Perhaps you have a keen husband? Marius

Hi Jackie and 'welcome to LOCSA' I stay in Germiston and Li and I have a Lada NIVA 1.7 Intermediate Carb model which has just been 'swimming'. I am in the middle of putting her (the NIVA that is not Li :-)) back together again after her bath and you are most welcome to come and take a look at one these fantastic vehicles whilst in a stripped down condition. Just give me a ring on 0729934955 to sort out a time convenient to us both. As to reliable....how many cars do you know that start first time after being underwater ! Regards, Keith and CERATOTH

Yeah Charles, as most of you know 2011 was crazy busy, but I was retrenched 2 weeks ago - signed my final notice last week. Been getting my portfolio together over the last two weeks (there's a lot of work to sort through). So know I have the bullets to shoot, but now I have to wait for them to come back.

Hi Jackie,
Please be careful from who you buy your Niva in the Gauteng area. Please feel free to ask the (veteran) members on this forum to assist if you get a Niva to consider.
I also suggest you contact Ventz in Pietermaritzburg if you want a Niva that is reliable. There are quite a few Nivas in the Western Cape, and if you are willing to shop that far Mike the Niva Doctor may be able to help you. Vincent (Natal province) also has a Niva for sale that needs a little bit of attention.
Once you bought your Niva I suggest you do a little bit of homework to find a good honest mechanic in your area and stick with him to service your Niva frequently. As already mentioned here on the forum, in theory any mechanic that can read can service, repair and maintain a Niva with normal tools and equipment.
Nivas do not come standard with air conditioners. Ventz has air conditioners in stock, that were deigned for Nivas, at very reasonable prices.
Nivas do also not come standard with power steering, but do not need it if you stick with the standard wheels (or something very close to standard).
I hope the above is of some help.
Regards,
Fanus
