Hi Marius,
It's a pity you locked the thread for the gearbox nuts. It is first time when I see such an action. Probably you were angry. But how to respond the next minute if I'm average in the forum once per week???

Hi Ventz
I also replied via your first email in this regard on 26 November 2011 (01h16) and attached my condensed photo for your reply. I did not receive any response from you. You are welcome to start a new thread if you wish to do so, but I think enough has been said already.
I cannot help but notice that you were very quick to respond when Danie had something to say that bothered you?

Hi Marius,
I wanted this time to respond to your e-mail on the forum so it would be visible for all. The questions were the same. But I can't log-in every day. Look at my letter above >>> 2:42 in the middle of the night, when everyone sleeps.
On the other hand I'm sure the explanation and the photo were very clear and easy to understand even for child in kindergarten; like a 4-5 piece elementary puzzle. Really it is enough to discuss more.
What about my very quick response to the previous argument - check again the time difference and use the correct words. It was after 2 weeks and I can't say 2 weeks is very quick response.

Too late for that Jan! ;D
Ventz >> If more members feel that I should unlock the thread I will do so, but for now you can respond to my question here or start your own thread.
We have had this whole discussion in the Gearbox Thread already - you can also post there if you wish.
I will only be available later this afternoon.

I have posted the part number of the circlip for the pre-97 nut in the "Possibly a cheap fix for the 5th gear problem" Thread but I decided to post it here as well Part number 11066276
The pre-97 nut/system is normally sold in kit form but it is possible to get the circlip.

Hi Marius
I have been unable to log on to the forum due to moving house. I was bitterly disappointed to see you have locked a thread when the posts do not suit your thoughts. You were the one who disputed what I had posted which was for the benefit of the members. The information came from a source which I and many members trust. Your assumption that most Nivas imported into SA confirm with 'CMH"spec is only an assumption as you have no idea as to when the vehicles were actually produced. Ari`s was delivered in 1996 so would you like to guess when his and the rest from Vanchester left the production line. I admit you are very adept at twisting things to fit in with your requirements. YOU WERE THE ONE WHO DEMANDED PROOF THAT 2 NUTS EXISTED. Even when you get it you are still not happy and try to wriggle your way out of it. I also find your catty remarks to Vincent unwarranted as he was trying to help. you should apologies to him. I personally find your handling of the thread was not done in a professional manner.

Hi Marius I have been unable to log on to the forum due to moving house. Ronnie Hi Ronnie This morning I decided to ignore Ventz's second post just to keep the peace (for a while at least) and I promise you I had a whole lot to say ;D I am just going to respond to what I've quoted above: You forgot that you do leave a bit of a paper trail and not just with regard to what you post. You posted Yesterday at 10:49am Re: Ari and Charles Lada fun with Ari's Niva. Read more: locsa.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=viewprofile&user=ronnie#ixzz1f1kQY9IBYour post was not too long after Charles and Ari mocked your handy work which was a bit too much for you to bear not to post but that is not actually the point. At the time you posted I was logged in and my post (09h51am) in the "5th Gear Thread" was still on top in the Technical Section yet you failed to respond. Hardly something you would have missed!? Don't underestimate my intelligence! Marius

Your post was not too long after Charles and Ari mocked your handy work which was a bit too much for you to bear not to post but that is not actually the point. Marius Please just note I did not mock Ronnie's handy work. That spare wheel carrier has lasted 16 years in some extreme conditions. I also mentioned that is was not actually the weld that broke, but that instead it rusted through from the inside. I just mentioned it because I remembered Ronnie saying that was his first welding job. I have loads of respect for Ronnie and all the modifications/ accessories he has made. I trust (hope) that Ronnie knows this. Ronnie I am sorry if I offended you. Regards Charles P.s I just had to mention this as I am not here to make enemies or humiliate anybody. I'm here for the love of the Niva. If I have offended anybody in the past please accept my apologies and send me a pm to mention where I offended you so I can avoid to do the same in the future.

I see you guys are trying your best to pull the woolies over some people's eyes making me out as some autocratic Stalinist hooligan getting trigger happy. I locked the thread to stop a farce - nothing else. You have the whole forum for yourself to post. Ronnie can even post in the 5th gear thread if he wants to! (but I do recommend he post elsewhere) I am still waiting for Ventz's "response" and I have not seen any post answering my last question in the 5th gear thread - not even in the email I've send him on the 26th I am not going to demand any apologies but I think you guys should stop now to spare yourself any further embarrassment. Charles I know you were just kidding around. The point is Ronnie was quick to respond when you had a remark about his handy work - yet he was unable to answer a very simple "kindergarden" question as Ventz pointed out. Don't worry Charles you have not offended anyone Marius

Hi Marius I have been unable to log on to the forum due to moving house. Ronnie Hi Ronnie This morning I decided to ignore Ventz's second post just to keep the peace... Last time I checked the opposite of peace meant war. Are you conciderating a war path Marius? ...if so, so much for being a moderator then. Did Ari and Charles "mock" Ronnie's handiwork? How do you know that? From what I have seen, Charles "playfully" pointed at his handiwork. Ronnie made it clear on various threads that he is not the best welder. His "handiwork" welding lasted 16 years! Marius, with this rhetorical question you seem to want to drive your abusive ad hominum home. If I'm correct than this would not be the duty of a moderator. I, for one, "pop" into the forum at least once every hour during "working hours" and I still miss some posts. As far as I know Ronnie is moving this weekend. During the last time I moved I was rather busy. Things happen. As a moderator you should keep this into account. Is this a threat? Your "intelligence" ;D ;D ;D Your proposition begs the question. ;D ;D ;D ...you still need to demonstrate your "intelligence"! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ..." I locked the thread to stop a farce". " I"... Is that not being autocratic? ;D ;D ;D Marius, last time I checked we do try and post under the relevant topics [threads] as not to "hi-jack" threads. Point in case, this nonsense does not belong under "The Lounge". Even more specific, the "Let's have some Coffee....... or a Beer ..." thread. As a moderator you should know this? For a start, you shut the thread down!!!! So no one can respond under that (relevant) thread anymore. Some kind of moderator you have become!!! Oh, and from what I have seen, Ventz only makes some posts every now-and-then. Begging for a time limit on response time on your part does not help. Earlier on the thread Vents had to respond to your "autocratic methods" in this way: Well, for me this is not the first "action" I have seen like this, but I have been amongst the drain pipes before. Did we not have a thread that was on topic and do we not try to stay on topic?

Hi All, My perception of how Marius handled the whole thread about the nut is not as negative as it appears some other guys took it. He actually did moderate; he realised that no actual value to the real issue here will be added: the issue that there is only one relevant nut even after Lada realised that the right thing to do is ultimately use the lock washer (the one you must bend over the nut in question to lock it/prevent the nut from turning loose). He may have offended some by locking the threat too soon for their liking, but no harm done really. Like in families or brothers and sisters; if you don't like what is done to you let hear of you in one way or another. In this case open your own thread or use another one. Nivas is nie vir sissies nie man! Marius did say if the thread should be opened it can be done. He also clearly stated that the reason he closed the threat was because he realised there was a "teaming up" going on (directly or implied). So, rather be glad you have somebody like Marius that know that when an issue was resolved to the benefit of all, to stop the collateral damage to the forum that may follow. To try and settle the nut issue for the gearbox: please allow me to comment and please do not tear into me because I feel actually very good after I read all the posts (in both the lets have coffee thread and the one for the cheap fix for the gearbox thread). Why? Because the only one that is right is me, and that is in my earlier statement about another heated issue (one may call it an argument, I just call it some alternative way for some to communicate): two people or groups may be both right about reality at the same point in time! It only depends on how you see reality at the time! All well as long as the problem is resolved (Nikki, so by the way this is the man-way to mysteriously resolve issues that woman so often regard as all out war and relations that can never ever be mended – you must just find an answer/solution or the argument will carry on for keeps). There is no real bleeding here! It is exactly what happened here (again). We all learned and now there are quite a few more people that know more about the Niva and things Niva! Just imagine this: You alone land on Mars and there is no life there, but there is a Niva. You keep on staring at the Niva and get quite carried away by this ingenious piece of engineering and character of this lifeless thing. But. But. But there is not a soul around! Just a Niva. How empty, how very empty. It is worth nothing. A Niva only means something if there are people enjoying and being passionate about it. That’s us! We all enjoy the Niva experience (for me it includes the sparring, the enthusiasm, the willingness to ask questions, the trust of people you never met even on other continents, the sticking to logic, stubbornness, disappointment - whatever - Africa is not for sissies). I love it. That’s precious life. A privilege! We as a team consisting of many different types of people and personalities, solved another mystery/uncertainty about the Niva. We are building a formidable team, by hook or by crook! Just do not mix the nuts! Regards, Fanus

Hi All The purpose of this Thread is to discuss anything (not Lada related) here - just say hello when it suits you or when you are having a break at work - tell us what you do, whether your wife or girlfriend has just hit you with the wheel spanner, whether the dog just had a litter of puppies on your bed pillow, etc.etc....... I have seen a thread like this at another forum on the Web before, and it works very well. So there you go......... Danie Phew!! A social chat thread in now a full-blown War zone. Perhaps an all "Mud slinging " thread is required. Regards Spikes

Hi Jaco I can understand that may people are upset here but this kind of a response comes as a bit of a surprise to me and it would probably take much of the whole day to answer all the issues you have. I will however answer ONE question and that in turn should actually in a way answer all of the above issues you have and I hope you will be able to grasp my reply. Apologies excepted Jaco. I just had a quick glance through our extensive debate in the "Possibly a cheap fix for the 5th gear problem" but I could not find any personal attack that I made on Ronnie. You are welcome to point it out to me. Things did get heated but I don't think I attacked anyone personally? My remarks toward Vincent was a reaction as to what he posted in the "Let's have some Coffee Thread" >> locsa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=lounge&action=display&thread=473&page=102Anyway I really do appreciate the fact that you were able to apologize. Hi Marius
You were the only one who thought Charles was mocking my handy work. I certainly did not think so. My crap welding did stand the test of time. If you think I have ignored posts try moving home and NOT have access to the Internet. I am only on line now thanks to friends and my time is limited.

Mama Mia, see how one stupid nut (or two) leads to battlefield. Who can expect such an eruption for such a silly thing ... from Marius who always been as an arbiter for all previous misunderstandings???!!!
Ronnie, I was somewhere outdoor all weekend as you. Using my human right for short break in work I took the family out of home >> not often happens I must admit. Away of all TVs, computers, play stations and tools. A question (needless question) was raised on Saturday morning and when I had a chance to read it on Sunday evening and express my opinion - all mouths were shut up, perhaps except one ...)))
May be for better...

Here is a good book everyone all over the world might benefit from..... "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie.... If we all treated each other like this there will not even be any jokes about Julius Malema (and we all will get along with him quite well) and Chuck Norris won't think he is the shit...

Hi all
I was going to wait for Ronnie's response but like Keith etc. I think this whole thing has gone too far.
Jan from Belgium made a plea to all of us (including Ventz) to stop our crap. He also PM'd us (including Ventz) twice urging us to make an end to this.
Last night I PM'd Ronnie (Moderator) and suggested that we stop this BS and suggested a route we could take out if this mess. Ronnie was not able to give me a direct response at the time as his laptop ran out of gas and told me he would respond later today.
I have now decided to respond in the "Announcement" Thread as to what I suggested we do. Unfortunately I don't know what Ronnie's response is at this time but I am sure he will agree with my suggestion. If not - he is welcome to respond differently.
Just a quick note back to Jan: It would be a great loss to LOCSA if he decided to give us a miss. He has a tremendous amount to offer LOCSA and has been a friend indeed!

Lada's may be tough but as humans we need to remember that we are not as tough as our Niva's.
Sorry for any part I may have had in this.
