Air filter lid after 12 months with AG 715 filter fitted. Fine dust can be seen OUTSIDE the filter's edge Attachments:

Air cleaner see notations The last rain we had was in April (22mm) so the gravel roads that I travel were powder dust. I am happy that the AG 715 is correct for my specific filter body

Interesting that you post this now as I had to do some carb cleaning yesterday! I fitted the AG 715 filter recently and I also do now believe that it is probably the best air filter to use. HOWEVER unlike you I found some dust and fine sand particles inside the housing - esp around the rubber gasket.
This is a re-occurring issue for me (once a year) when the car starts to idle erratically and sometimes even fails to idle. What works perfectly normally is to clean the carb with aerosol carb cleaner. However I had to buy Wynns Fuel Line Cleaner and after I poured about 10ml into the carb and the floats with a syringe things improved dramatically.
I do travel a short distance of gravel on my way to town on a regular basis. On the other hand I also do believe that it is not only dust but accumulated dirt from the fuel line that is the cause of the problem.
Marius PS - note that unlike Spikes I have a normal aspirated Niva and the bottom part of the housing could be slightly different around the "carb" area.

I found that NIVAs are interconnected and make us(owners) behave alike:) I cleaned the filter today and changed the oil filter. I have decided to run the present oil for another 2000 odd kilometers to get to 80000 on the clock. The oil and filters has been in for 13 months now hence the oil filter replacement
I did find sand in the filter paper when I dusted it out BUT all in all the filter and housing was amazingly clean. I do have both the extension pipe and the hot air pipe connected

Hi Guys. Just to say that I have had, over the past couple of years, to clean out the idle jet with compressed air to get rid of the kind of problem that Marius experiences. In other words I get the same problem....gunk from the fuel line seems to get past the fuel filter and the first point it seems to hit is the idle jet. I least I now know how to fix the damn thing and that once again...."I am not alone" in sharing the 'joys' (?) of LADA driving. Regards to all at LOCSA, Keith and CERATOTH

I also use the ag715, and I could find no trace of dust getting past the filter after having done just under 10 000km.
The filter that was on the car when I bought it on the other hand was noticeably shorter, and probably the reason my motor is starting to smoke even though it has less than 80 000km on the clock....
