I need help.I've undone the outer tie rod head and undone the inner rod's nut. But for the life of me, I can't get the inner rod out of the bracket. What do I do?

I had similar problems getting ball joints out. I ended up using a combination of ball joint separator, heat and a 4lb hammer to get them loose.

My ball joints also not moving. I'll see to use loads of force tonight. Hahaha. Stipped all the suspension parts out. Getting them blassted! Primed and painting them gun metal black. What a job to strip it out. The oak that installed the parts tack welded the nuts. So its loads of force needed.

You should be able to press the lower ones out with a bench vice.

I came right used steve's advice. If violence doesn't solve the problem, then you are obviously not using enough. 4lb did the job just a small tap on the side. Bought my suspension paiint yest. Gonna look machine. How can I add photos with my phone? I want to give the progress. Its gona look beast!!

The easiest way will be to setup something like a photobucket account. You upload your pics to photobucket and then just post the link here

Ladanivabelgium's upper tool is the one,its never failed me too, and you can re use the ball joint, usually.
Since we are on the front suspension, any tips for compressing the coil spring so that I can remove the lower wishbone? I have a pair of wind up clamps but they are too large to engage with the coils.
Oh, and another problem if you can help me! Any tips for getting the steering wheel off? I've released to nut and tried to loosen it hitting with the palm of my hands from underneath, but no joy. Don't want to damage it. Thanks Paul

Good Evening paulg. The only way that I could get CERATOTH's steering wheel off was to hit it from underneath with a rubber mallet. Tapped it all the way round first then a good thump from the bottom of the wheel did the job. Steve (Ihar) would most probably suggest using a 4lb lump hammer ...but he is much braver than I am Regards, Keith and CERATOTH

Nope no 4pd hammer this time. Spray some penetrsting lubricant around the thread and let it soak in for a few hours.

The trick is to loosen the nut but NOT remove it. You need to use some force and side-to-side motion to get it off. It will come loose in a hurry, and all that force you're using will come back at you. Leaving the nut on keeps you from ending up with a face full of steering wheel.

A sharp tap with a light hammer on the socket just after you loosened the nut, usually breaks the hold of the splines.

A sharp tap with a light hammer on the socket just after you loosened the nut, usually breaks the hold of the splines. or you hit the steering axle further down the other splines. This trick works but yoy have to be carefull

Good evening Gents I also had problems getting the steering loose until I realised that there is a indent on the top of the shaft.Undo the nut then spray penetrating lube, place a punch on the indent of the shaft and give it a sharp tap . Dheer

Well for the tie rod ends and the ball joints, the chesterton penetrating spray leaving it for a day, then tapping it from both sides with 2 hammers at the same time. It pops out quick and sharp. As for the steering I will get to that when my suspension is good to go. By end feb I'm gona be busy pimping it up. Lol.
