I will show you a best of all pictures with some little text in between.
THE JOURNEY:1000km in Niva on highway, from north part of Germany to Vienna.
Not without technical problems. On ront brake zylinder did´nt want to open as he should do.
Also one Jeep came with on tour, from Munich.
Friday afternoon meeting point my home. First talk from eye to eye...
... and first servicing together
We replaced the bad working zylinder by one of the many old ones from my garage.
At night we grilled and had some beer. It looked funny, the garden was full of tents
Next mrning we started at 7am, short stop for some supplies and fuel. Than staright on highway to next fuelstop Hungary- Budapest.
Until Budapest some traffic and short jam. Behind Budapest free roads and nice driving.
On border to Ukraine we had big luck this year. Last year seven hours waiting, this year 40 minutes
Directy behind the border my friend Romi waited for us. The big Niva 2131 broke his mechanical cooler wheel, we had to replace the rest of it.
... of course with live music- it is Ukraine!
Just at dinner time we arrived our luxus hotel. Alltough the tired eyes the evening got long... there is very good beer in the Ukraine
DAY 1 on tour:
Ukraine welcomed us with best weather. Not like last year...
Our group filled four houses completly.
Last sericing, in few hours we will be off the road.
Me little bit confused about all that stuff for my Niva
Tour tshirt for everybody and sticker for every car.
After breakfast small conference and groupfoto shooting.
One Toyota Landcruiser, one Samurai, one Jimny, one Jeep, one long Niva 2131 and four Niva 2121. (one Diesel)
Seven German, six Lithuanian, two Ukraine, one Hungary and one Austria, 17 a all.
In konvoi we go to money changing, fuel and supermarcet.
Nice lakes.
For German people very interseting driving in Ukraine. I am used to, i was in India
Next days shopping only in small village shops, so better buy enough
Now we went into the Karpats. To begin smooth, along a river.
More and more offroad cars. All greet, so do we.
All we drive is legal with all papers. Here short stop to officialy start our tour.
.... you see every third second a Niva in Ukraine... sometimes funny ones.
Road got smaller and more bumpy. Houses got more and more simple, cars more and more artificial and daily life more and more to the outside.
Still i the village, the way started getting steep....
... last chance for some frsh vitamines direct from the field.... and lets start!
Steep, stony, washed out and curvy we drove up the hill.
On picture it looks like normal way... in real it was steep. First gear reduction and Niva had to work hard.
First time winching. Of course no Niva, it was the 4.0 liter Jeep.
All grass get cut by hand. People life here like at home 150 years ago. And only 600km in between.
Houses get smaller and smaller, no electricity or water here.
Sometimes with little help... but all keep on going.
Sadly just in first day first big technical problem.
Rear spring of Samurai broke. For first we fixed it with a tension belt and continued to sleeping place.
:respect:
Normaly you drive little bit more safly with abroken spring. Not so Gintas from Lithuania. He continued full gas.
On steep done, the next even more steep is waiting.
Sadly often to see in Ukraine... and all over the world. Horrible.
Way got more flat.. but more muddy... yeah!
little too much stuff in my car.... not enough space left for beer
Quikly the mud claimed the first victim.
Testing if driveable or too deep.
Gintas :-))
Me too stuck one time.
I have air dumpder on inside rear axle springs. One broke :-(
Also Romi stuck one time.
Our first camp side. We stopped, make wood for fire, make fire and bild up all tents. Mostly in some minutes.
We arrives pretty late, after msall snack and two beer it got dark and we had dinner with lamp. As always Misha made every good dinner for all. After nice sitting beside the fire under a starry sky.
Hope you enjoy the impressions, this was the first day, next will follow.
greets Jakob
