Hi all . Are polly bushes any good on a lada? I am a former gti man and polly everything worked great for me. But dont know if things work the same on a niva. I made me bushes for the front suspension out of 90 compound urethane. Regards Ruan

Hi Ruan
They should stiffen up the suspension nicely. On the bakkies we replace most of the suspension bushes with polly bushes as soon as the first ones wear out. Lasts much longer. What bushes did you replace?

Charles. All the front ones. Upper and lower wishbones. Nasty job! What is the right way to get them out? I burned them with a blow torch. My mk2 gti always (800km) riped the front engine mount. Had a new one made from polly and never again.

I used a bench vice and some old sockets to push them out. they come as a unit with the metal pieces that hold them in place. I dont know why you guys need to burn them out Ari

Ari's method works well, but i don't understand why you want to put some polly bushes in a Niva It's fantastic on a road car, but if you put them in an offroader you will stress the rest of the suspension to much. The rubbers are designed to absorb hard knocks

Jan. I thougt it may be to stiff. But i am going to try them out for now. Maybe put them on my sisters car to be. Why do they use pollyurethane on rally and 4x4 s then?

Roons, at professional rally cars you get a reinforced suspension and the body is completely welded instead of spot welded. These cars can take a lot harder beating compared to stock cars

Ari. How do u press out the top ones with the shaft in place? I am feeling more and more stupid sa the posts come in. Thinking of (pressing) them out now. Why dont the rubber bushes last?

Use the shaft to push the first one out. Push on the shaft while you use a socket to allow the bush on the other side out. Then turn it around and put the shaft back and push the other way.

Hello Chaps, Picking up one the discussions re wishbone bush replacement, can the bushes be refitted without using the spacer tool for the wishbone, shown in manuals? paulg

Yes you can use a piece of piping or a socket.
