Great work Jan. It looks great. I'll post some picks later on my roof rack and it's clamps. I'll also be interested in the plug you will use for your electrics.

Do you have some template drawings of the rack? Looks like I will have to get myself a CO2 welder sometime.

Hi Jan The rack is very very neat! Well done. Only thing missing is a waterproof speaker so that you can listen to the NIVA Song while in camp!! Spikes

Hi Ladanivabelgium, The lights look real mean up there! I stole with my eyes what I could see but would like to know what you did to ensure enough continious power to those hungry pack of lights? If that Lada does not turn heads, I do not know. Regards, Fanus

Fanus, there are some other amp eaters also: 4 PIAA spots and a 4.3 tons winch: My batterij is a 90 amp and the alternator is a 90 amp also. Never the less you should use these spots wisely and not all of them at the same time. The bumper spots are for road use and the roof spots for night off roading. If the battery dous'nt hold on i will buy a yellow top optima. For my type of engine (XUD Peugeot diesel 1.9) there's a 150 amps alternator available, but that"s pretty expensive. It helps that's there's no electrical fuel pump or ignition that drains the battery constantly. the relays and fuses for the spots:

Jan, that is inspiring work that you have done there. I wish I could understand the setup and working of the relays and fuses, but your setup is very neat. I will cross that bridge when I get there. ;D

Hi Jaco
The easy way to try to understand the fuses and relays is as follows. Fuses are there to protect the wire and the item being controlled from drawing current (amps) in excess of their design. Relays are simply a switch, which is controlled by another switch, or thermo switch etc. This allows you to switch heavier loads than a normal switch can carry. Most switches can carry 10 to 15 amp, and most car 4 or 5 pin relays can carry 30 amps. Hope this helps.

Ronnie, t'nx for that very simple explanation. I think a relay just switched something on in my mind. It all makes a lot more sense now. ;D

Hi Charles
You are correct, it would be Vincent`s roof rack. It is too late now anyway as I expect to need to move out of this house before Christmas.

Hi Charles I am selling it and I think it may be sold, I will know tomorrow. I am toying with the idea of buying a MIG welder over there and learning how to use it correctly. Ronnie
