Hi Dimitri According to the photos you still seem to be capable of driving over steep inclines, despite of the Weber carb. Danie P.S. I never approach any steep incline at speed, and wonder whether I will be able to drive up Sani Pass with the Weber on the Fiat engine ?

Hi Dimitri,
I know of course such a words as mousaka, baklava, sarma, kadaifi - even they are often on our family table, we are also from Balkans. Also taverna, sirtaki, .... My grandfather's name (my father's dad) is entirely Greek - Vangel and even for curiosity my grandmother, his wife has the same name - Vangelia.
The word "klepsi" I learned at the police station in Athens when our car was robed at the Acropolis' parking while we were busy watching the temple on the top.
Regards
Ventz

Hi Dimitri Thanks for the links - I haven't seen those before. My Lada engine is a carb. model - I do not have any knowledge about the monojet models, so I will rather stay away from that. Regards Danie

Hi
I think the throttle body TBI is what he is refering to as monojet.

I think the throttle body TBI is what he is refering to as monojet. Ari Yes, thats my understanding - I do not have any knowlege about the TBI system. No local supplier has ever shared any knowlege about these systems at this forum, and I am not interested in letting any of them work on my Lada. Danie

Hi Danie,
Why need input from tle local Niva 'agents' if Ladas come standard with the monojet/single point fuel injection? Simply take the Fiat inlet manifold and put a Niva 1700 throttle body on (adapter if required), with one of the universal aftermarket ECU's wired in, voila! Peace of mind with your supercharger fundi there in Durbs making your Fianiva purring like a kitten (dyno-tuned). You will never look back and add years of service to your Niva. Just remember you need electronic ignition in your distributor - again; fit and forget - just what Nivas in SA should have.
I am convinced that you will be able to fit multipoint fuel injection to your Fianiva for a song if I think for which prices you got parts at the scrapyards! You will for sure not be the first that fit multi-point fuel injection to a Fiat engine!
Here is one of the best reasons to go for multipoint fuel injection: The inlet tracts of a single carb engine or a single point fuel injection engine are not of the same lenght - so the fuel mixture is different for at least two cylinders -robbing power or making some combustion chambers get a different fuel mixture to others (lean versus rich). Fiat Alpha realised it years ago when they started to build crossflow double overhead cam engines (very high output engines); solution: a choke per cylinder. That is why a two liter Fiat\Alpha engine crapped all over a three litre V6 engine those years (for those that did not know).
Regards,
Fanus

Hi Fanus
Thanks for your comments.
I was actually keeping an eye on the Rand / US$ Exhange Rate, before I would import a K&N filter from the US for the Fiat's Weber. The current air filter on the carb is a piece of rubbish, and everything needs to be replaced.
The price, shipments costs, + import taxes on the K&N filter will be about R800.00 at the moment. I would also have to change the jets on the Weber carb - the previous owner has fiddled with the jets, and I believe that the fuel mixture has been way too rich. So I guess the total cost to get this Weber going could easily be about R1000.00, if nor more.
Reading your post, I realized that a TBI installation could indeed be a way better option. It might be better so sell the Weber, and to look for a TB with universal ECU.
The Fiat engine already has an electronic Distributor - I have forwarded some pics about the mod under the "smaller engine" thread a while ago.
Regards
Danie

You could also import the lada multipoint fuel injection that the new lada's use.

Sjoe man! Some nice Lada's there. I have noted the wheel offset does not seem to bother you boys too much. ;D
Also interesting to see a Lada with a roof vent. I was pondering the same thing. ;D

Hi Dimitri, Wow! You made my day with those photos of the 1600 Toyota motor in a Niva. I seriously considered to fit exactly the same motor to my Niva but decided to stick with the Niva 1600 engine. My children was very cross with me for not fitting the Toyota 1600 motor because they knew the ToyaNiva would give a hiding to all commers in the 4 x 4 competitions. I shared information about how strong and affordable this motor is on the forum, but I think after your photos it may convert somebody (especially the few that complains about spare prices) . Viva la Greece!!! Regards, Fanus

Hi all. FanusIn my opinion ,Toyota 4a-ge is the best motor which Toyota made, and it is very good to fit in Niva for offroad use. (1600 efi, not supercharger).Do it!!!!! I am waiting for photos!!!! The friend of mine made the Clutch bellhousing, half toyota – half lada to connect the 4A-GE motor with niva gear box!!!!!

My Conquest has a 4AGE in. The 86kw one. Revs to 7800rpm. Also with the big port head with the Tvis intake manifold. I will rip my gearbox to pieces with that.

Hi all Dheer.... I can’t understand what hoses you refer to.. Do you mean the blue ones? If you’re refering to the blue hoses, they aren’t painted, they’re just made of silicone..

Hi Dheer
The hoses can be bought at any spares shop in KZN.
Look for the pimped VW's Toyota's and Opel's outside and the youngsters that look like porcupines and have never learnt what a belt is actually for.
You will have your choice of hoses,
Regards Vincent
