To continue our discusion "When does a Niva cease to be a Niva?" here are a few pics of some seriously modified Nivas.
First up is this great extreme mod - looking good but you have to look twice.

The next two are just a touch too strong for me - but I can obviously see the purpose.

Marius you just gave me a new fav Niva. I love that white one! It looks greats and it is fairly stock. Isn't even lifted. I still want a lift, just scared what it might do to my cv's. I think I have to build myself a roof rack like that. I was wondering where to get rear light protectors. Now I know. Make them myself!

Hi Charles Those CV's are expensive The white one is absalutely great I love it - to my mind a good example to what a Niva mod should be. One just has to be careful not to add too much weight. Here is a pic of the one you posted playing - the stock interior can just about qualify it as a Niva ;D Regards Marius

Hi Charles If you meant this one , I think it is lifted and the arches are also cut. I also like this one Ari

It's built to rally standard - it could be lifted - but it looks pretty stock to me.

It has double front shocks and looks like the arches have been cut (areas circled in red)
If you look at the red line at the side steps, you can see the line is above the hubs.

Looking pretty solid in the turn - lifting it by too much will surely make a mess of it. Nivas have performed very well in many ralleys

If you compare to my lifted lada ,also with the red line in a similar position the body/hub heights are similar.

Hi Ronnie
Looks great!
Found some more pics and info. The coils was lengthened by 5cm and the rear shocks modified to the latest standard to give much better road holding. The rear shock mod is actually something to look into.
Judging by his interior he would be handy in our 2012 tour - and the aircon vent looks very neat.

The scoop(s) on the front was due to serious overheating problems from fitting the winch.

Hi Marius
The air con from Ari`s Niva was similar when new and had 2 vents directly under the Radio. I modified it as the air flow was very low due to the bends in the ducting. The way you see it in my posts now is more or less as it was in Ari`s. Only the shape of the vents differs.
