Hi Danie
It is funny that you should mention Ventz as I have just met a guy in Pennington with a Sidekick bought a couple of months ago from him. He seems to be very happy with the Lada. I have given him the Locsa site, but don`t know if he will join.

Hi Ronnie
I raised a question to Vents regarding the Ladas at his place (reported by Mark). Ventz told me that he don't strip Ladas - he rebuild them !
I really find it incredibly sad that only now - at a very late stage, we really become aware of Ventz' services !
I have no doubt that Ventz deserves a far better "ranking" at our local Lada scene !
And on a positive note - I am extremely exited about this news - I think we have just entered a new era in our local Lada history............
Regards
Danie

Ronnie, hopefully that other owner from Pennington will also jump on board.........the "playing field" will now become more level, and Jan now has healthy competition with his rebuilds....... Regards Danie

Hi guys This is indeed the best news EVER! As Danie said - this is without doubt a big big step forward. Maybe Ventz can import me a set of Russian tyres Also need a RH lever on the backseat. Regards Marius

Just some interesting info regarding Ventz Lazarov:
During our conversation he told me that he started importing spare parts during 1997 - which means that he started his imports before Chris Swales or Jan Pretorius got involved.........

.... What? I thought all of yous knew about Ventz? Jan and Michelle were quite slanderous about the poor Rusky, which makes me like him. What are his prices like?
Sorry for my absence, I ran out of bandwidth and July turned out to be super tight. I'm getting jealous of you KZN kids- getting all the nice weather, Francois Steyn and now a honest Lada "agent". Let's see more of him then!

Hi Darryn
I new about Ventz, but none of the current members of this club (included myself) ever knew that he is involved in importing parts as well.
On the old forum Jan used to be very slanderous to anybody else in South Africa who dared to work an a Lada............but to this day am am not sure whether Jan is a qualified mechanic or not...... there is enough reports on this website which really makes one think.........

Danie

Just a final word regarding Jan's slanderous attacks on other professional mechanics: Jan's website clearly indicates that he was selling Ladas "and only after being open for a couple of months had to switch over from selling New Ladas, to repairing them !"www.ladasa.co.za/Jan's website does not mention anything about his personal training as professional Lada mechanic, or any other personal training as a qualified mechanic - which obviously raise the question : is Jan a professional mechanic, or not !If Jan Pretorius is indeed not a properly trained (qualified) mechanic, he should shut up for once and all, and stop slandering properly trained (qualified) mechanics who do know what they are doing !To my mind these slandering attacks by Jan are extremely unprofessional, unethical, narrow minded, uncalled for, and has brought the Lada almost to it's knees in South Africa !To conclude - I do find it incredibly sad that Jan seem to be trying to keep the complete Lada "market share" for himself. By doing this, he stand a change of losing everything ! And by trying to keep everything for himself, he is definately not serving the best interest of all owners in South Africa ! Danie

Hi Ronnie & Danie I think this message is in the wrong thread Ronnie. So the poll for our management structure has now expired, or are you going to let it run longer, Danie, as only 7 members voted? Ari

Hi Ventz
Again, welcome to LOCSA. I am sure all of us are exited about your presence at this website, and it would be nice to hear from you.
I am convinced that many owners who bought their Ladas in the recent past will start contacting you for spare parts, or repairs to their cars.
Best wishes
Danie

Your technical advise and suggestions will also be gladly appreciated.

Sorry just reading through this topic now and for curiosity sake, has anybody found out if Jan Pretorius is a qualified mechanic?
I went once to his shop/plot to buy something and he sounded like a know it all. Not really a fan of him.

I doubt if he is a qualified mechanic and the rest of your post sounds correct. I would not trust him with a skateboard far less a Niva. Ronnie

Hello Ronnie
Haha jip also thought so, but on second thought, i won't mind all of his scrap, there is a lot of Lada parts lying around there. I really won't mind that 5 door Niva.
It is so sad that the people don't trust him, because if he just drops his price and betters his service, people would run to him for work to be done on their Niva's due to the fact that he has a big area that he can cater for.
Ag what maybe he will one day wake-up and smell the flowers.
Regards, Allen

Some members receive good service from Lada Centurion, BUT they are few and far between. I have only spoken to them by phone.... and had no further dealings with them

I have seen that some people are very satisfied with his service. I have been there to his plot/shop only once to buy a wheel bearing kit without a wheel nut for R560. The nut costs R40 extra. So he doesn't come very cheap.

Did that kit consist of two wheel bearings and two oil seals? If so the price is not to bad. If only two bearing, BMG sells them for R130.00 each BUT no seals are locally available There is also an oil "slinger" plate that is pressed into the hub that can be bought separately if you were ham fisted with the hammer Spikes

I got the 2 bearing and the 2 oil seals. Jip i realized BMG sells the bearings at R130/bearing, so with my package from Pavel i ordered 2 seals for if i do have a breakdown again.

Good for you Allen
I always add in the extra little things such as the wheel bearing oil seals, hydraulic cylinder overhaul kits etc. Basically light stuff that does not increase the package content into the next Postage category
