Hi Guy's, I need your help again, I am having trouble engaging and disengaging the difflock on my Lada, When I try to engage it I can move the lever backwards and the light on the dash comes up but it is not always locking the wheels, The trouble with this is that one only finds out, when it is to late, and you are stuck, I then have to repeatedly try to engage it before it will lock the wheels, (and I just hate the Lada been stuck while other 4x4's can get through, it is supposed to be the other way round ) Disengaging difflock has always been a bit of a problem, but it would come out after reversing a few times, But on Sunday, it stuck completely and it took for ages for me to get it out, I nearly had to reverse half way around the world. Can anyone shed some light on what the problem could be.

Can't really think of anything other than rust due to not being in use for a long time? You should engage and disengage the diff lock when on the move and preferably before you enter troubled waters (no lesson intended).

I always engage diff lock by lifting off the throttle momentarily, pull the lever back all the way. It takes the load of the gears. Unlocking the same.

Thanks for your advice Marius and Spikes, I think you have solved my problem, I have always stopped and tried to engage difflock before entering a difficult section, and not on the move, I will test it tomorrow
