I live near the Transkei and often go on the 4x4 tracks there, some parts are pretty bad, But the Lada just takes it all in it's stride, as if it was taking granny to church on sunday, I have seen other more modern 4x4 taking strain and my Lada hasn't even built up a sweat, It maybe not as comfortable, have a few more rattles and such, but to me thats a plus, I think sitting on leather seats with the windows closed so you can keep the aircon temp at a constant 18 degrees, and listening to Lady Gaga through 16 loudspeakers is somehow not the same, No give me the Lada every time

The one thing I disagree with, is not having aircon. Try driving in the Kalahari when the temp hits 50deg C and you will be glad to have one. Ronnie

You're spot on Ronnie. You wouldn't catch me driving anything with air suspension the other side of the border, I've heard too many horror stories
