People all across africa. What are the chances off us arranging a long weekend trip to Mozambiq on easter weekend next year. We are the brothers and fathers of LADA. So why not get together??

Sounds like a great idea and thanks for "volunteering" to organise it. Do you want me to create a seperate section for it?

Tjeers Steve Hi All I think it is a good idea for a group of Nivas to get together for a trip like this. Please be aware though, border posts can be a nightmare at holiday times. I have at the worst taken 4 hours to clear Martins drift into Botswana. Don`t know so much about MOZ. Ronnie

I am now part of the LOCSA forum. But how do I join the club?? We need to see who will be keen to go. And also where we would like to go. I know tangami has a awesome 4x4 trail. Then we would need to get some sponsors for shirts, caps, ect. Stuff to make us look like we are there as a "team" to make it more exiting. Its not everyday we do this.

Ok thanks guys. How long will we give people time to respond before we start planning. And I'm hoping to get Egor looking superb by then. I feel like a cake when I see your beasts. But they didn't all start out like that hey? Gona be getting most of my gear from pavel. His prices seem to be best. How is the service and waiting period?

Service is good, waiting is about 2 days for him to get everything and then 10 - 20 for SAPO to deliver.

I'm coming also. With half a car full of spares and tools of course. In my opinion we need at least 5 days.

Mozam is out. There is to much trouble there now. So where else do you guys suggest? Must be a place where we can do some good 4x4 routes.

Botswana. Tjeers Steve[/quote Hi Steve Botswana is my favourite place, but you need at LEAST 5 days to go there. In fact for people like Ventz coming from Durban area you would need at least a week. You would be better in my opinion sticking to SA with the time you will have available, and try to pick a place as central as possible to every one. Ronnie

What I heard from people who came back from Mozambique last month, is that the attacks are isolated to the north. There have apparently been no attacks in inhambane which is the tourist province or even further south near ponta do ouro. Of course that doesn't meant that the violence can't escalate by Easter, but I don't think we need to be too alarmist about what's happening there. The truth is we are probably more at risk of violent attack here in South Africa than we are in Mozambique.
If we decide to rather stay local, Ari's suggestion of baviaanskloof has to be at the top of the list and I've also heard good things about the wild coast 4x4 Eco route

My 2cents worth...
Mozambique's political issues are likely to escalate in the months to come and Botswana can be very expensive. I can suggest that we start looking for a spot that is quite central to South Africa so that people from far and wide can join.
We should also try and get Gerrie involved in order to get some media coverage.

Do you guys think we should do it later in the year as to give everybody enough time to save for the trip. And to be able to decide on a location. But I agree it should be more towards central SA. As to accomodate everybody. Then we need to decide and stick to it. And I think we make a whole family thing of it. Because I'd like to take my fiance and little one along. And I'll only be driving Egor after feb when all my upgrades and repairs are done.

My suggestion for dates is the end of april begining of may week. Travel to Howick days (2 days sat + sun). Trip days (5 days mon to fri). Travelling to Home days (2 days sat + sun). 28 april + 1 may are public holidays. This would be for a trip that includes baviaanskloof and sanipass and many mountain passes and small towns in between, including suurberg, hogsback , rhodes.
