This is a project I started approx. four years ago but due to ill health the project has taken a lot longer than planned. During my down-time I’ve been following threads on this forum and now my project has escalated tremendously because of all the good ideas, help and encouragement I have witnessed here. Congratulations to all of you.
Currently I am busy working on an engine & gearbox transplant together with power-steering, rust removal and a total re-spray. My list of further improvements is quite long but I’m going to tackle it slowly.
Photo’s of progress will be posted shortly.

Hi Steve I've not chatted with Douw yet but have followed his thread with great enthusiasm as he inspired me a lot to go with the automatic box. Fortunately I have re-gained the use of my leg so am sticking to a manual box which I already have with my Cressida engine. Cheers SJ

Hi Roons I'm so happy to have you as an experienced pioneer regarding the power steering as I have a list of questions a mile long! I've looked into what is uncharted territory for me and I'm sure you'll be able to steer me in the right direction. Thanks for your offer of assistance. SJ

Hi guys, I need some help please with part numbers.
Re cv boots - I see there are three different numbers given here on the forum cv19k, cv22k and cv27k. Which is the correct number for the inner cv joint?
For ball joint boots is BJ0006 correct and for ball joint itself QST767S? My local Midas store tells me they can't get that part number, do you know if there is another part number I can give them?
Tnx SJ

I've been reading on the thread about sealed front wheel bearings. My entire suspension has been stripped and is in pieces. I need to know which parts must I take to have machined, and also how much must they be machined? Then, what are the part numbers for the new bearings that I must put in? Hope some of you can help. SJ

CV Boots are cv22k for the 4 for the wheels and use original for the intermediate shaft between GB and TC.

Thanks a lot for all your quick responses. No wonder the midas guy wasn't very helpful. Thanks Conrad, I'll contact teknosa tomorrow to see if they've got ball joints. Contact details for teknosa are :- www.teknosa.co.za and their Durban branch is at 10 Beechfield Crescent, Unit 5, Springhawk Industrial Park. Tel (031) 579 1997 Re the sealed bearings, is powdersnow referring to wheel height or breadth when he says you can use any wheel. Tnx SJ

A question ..... on the front disc, the opposite side to where the wheel fits, there is a shaft that fits into the hub. This shaft is the same one that on the inside has a spline. There is no problem with the inside but the outside of the shaft has been badly worn away and the shaft is approx. one third of the thickness of the one on the opposite side (wheel). What could have caused this? I'll be uploading pics (hopefully tomorrow) as they will show you exactly what has happened. Thanks SJ

The guide is in the second thread of this topic locsa.proboards.com/thread/1214/post-pictures-forumAri 'n guide is quite a way down. You will need to a photobucket, Flickr or imgur.com account. If you only need to post a few photos and only for this forum then imgur.com will be the easiest in my opinion. Spikes

Thanks Spike you've opened up a whole new world of imgur to me. Next I have to learn how to make the pics smaller but finally I got a couple of pics onto the forum Yehaa!
These pics illustrate the difference in the two shafts , not sure why the one has either worn down or been machined down but in my book its very unsafe, hence my earlier question re sealed bearings and which part gets machined. If its as dangerous as I think it is, can it be replaced?

Spike, I see your new one is machined in the centre, are all the new ones like that? Confused as with mine one is machined in the centre and top of the shaft and the other isn't machined at all. How do I go about fitting these or is it better to go to an engineering works? I know they are available from Pavel but do you think my local midas store will have them?
Sorry for all the questions but I still have loads more! SJ

I notice on a different thread that Ari advises changing the bushes when the suspension is out and stripped. I'm going to do just that. My question is what is the purpose of the bushes? (hope you don't think its a stupid question!) I can see its to fill up the hole at the end of the control arm but what does it affect? Handling, comfort or what? SJ

Locally you will find that Ventz, Chris Swales, Reg Dodd (probably) and Centurion Lada will be able to supply. As to why your one differs from the other I can only assume a previous owner did that to fit different bearings. Spikes
