Hi All Well, I have some good news to share - Kobus has replied to my e.mail, and he does not have any problem if we carry on using the Locsa name in future. The original members who started Locsa has drifted apart, and does not take part on this Forum any longer.
For this reason it is at our own discretion whether we wish to carry on using the Locsa name or not.
Before we make any further decision regarding the stickers, please feel free to let us know whether there is any objection if we should carry on using the name LOCSA in future.
Should there be any objection, please reply under the post "LOCSA - Any Need for a Name Change ? "
As far as myself is concerned, I believe that the name LOCSA is part of Lada history in South Africa, and that we should carry on using this name in future.
Regards
Danie

I like the LOCSA mantle, it sounds official... I haven't been on the forum for a while because I didn't have bandwidth until last night and I've only read what's actually going on this thread just now. I'll whip another, wilder, sticker together tonight. I went with a strong Socialist Realism flavour with the last one, although the Cyrillic text could be a bit confusing (nice one Ronnie!), which is a pity because I can't find any good-looking Russian/cyrillic fonts that do not the mirrored cyrillic alphabet characters.
Anyway. Laters

Hi All
Just a suggestion, it actually comes from one of Danie's posts but could we maybe have a more aggresive lada on the picture?

I wanted a Lada from a low angle for this design, so that it would have a greater impact, but I didn't have time to wade though the tonnes of Lada pics on the net. I'll get stuck in on sunday.

Holy moly, the last few pics in black and white are actually stunning photos. Just looking at the crazy environments these cars have been photographed in is pretty cool. The only problem (or "challenge" as the ANC always so succinctly puts it) , from a design software point of view is that amateur photos make it difficult/time consuming to isolate the vehicle because of lighting conditions etc. But there are a few I can use. Thanks mate.

Problem with using a highly modified Niva is that it might end up not looking like a Niva - like this great looking mod...

...or this fantastic mod that looks like a shortened Disco. I'd rather stick with a nice looking "standard" Niva that looks like the real thing that anyone can recognize. Attachments:

Hi All
I really like the "more aggressive" look of some of the posts, but perhaps we should stick to something more "pure South African".
And as proud (but often very gatvol) South African citizen, I thought it would be nice if we could incorporate the colours of our National Flag somehow..........a huge Hammer and Sickle, as well as an overwhelming red color might create the wrong impression I think......

Yeah Danie I was thinking at one time to paint a red hammer and sickle on my bonnet but thought it would be miscontrued and that people would think you are a communist and possibly vandalise your vehicle. I vote for an agressive lada It does not need to be too agressive and must still be easily recognisable Ari

Hi all
Perhaps those that prefer a more aggressive Niva - should come up with a pic that they would like - and we'll take it from there.
The H&S has some political stigma attached to it - but I think in the "New Democratic SA" it shouldn't be a problem. The H&S is just reference to the Niva's origin and everyone should be able to see that.
I think we should have a choice - so therefor 2 or more different designs.
Regards Marius

Debating Socialist symbols in a democratic manner... A lot has gone wrong in this country, but there have been obvious improvements.
I think by "aggressive" we should use a pic of a Lada from a low angle with as little mods as possible. A low angle makes just about anything look impressive and daunting. In my opinion, the visual design of a Lada is balanced, as well as being aggressive- without being overbearing and tacky. That's why out of the pics you posted Ari, the most striking for me is the gold Lada with the title "1990 model". It is simple, but not crass. The Russians have that aspect to their design and art. I've always admired it and used it in University to great effect.
I'll put two designs together tomorrow night with the SA colours incorporating the H&S.
Thanks dudes.

Hi All
While we are awaiting more designs to be presented, the final pole will take place later next week.
My own feeling is that we should stick to one format (logo) only. A single logo usually represent a message of unity, and I am not aware of any club in South Africa , or abroad, which use more than one logo.
Please feel free to air your views in this regard.
Regards
Danie

The logo should be one with the H&S in it.
However I have no problem if someone chooses - for example - the sticker with the national flags to fit on his/her Niva. Esp if someone would feel uncomfortable with the H&S symbol.
PS Darryn - the "1990 model" is as standard as you can get ;D

Hi Ari
It wouldn't be a problem - however I did play around with that idea when I designed the stickers and it did not work for me. Too busy and too messy for my liking.
However I can fool around a bit more and see if I can come up with something.

Hi All
I think our picture of a lada on the sticker should be representive of our forum. Our forum is one of the few forums that encourages mods, improvements etc, and is not one of the " keep it original" forums. This is why I think we should use a slightly modified lada (such as a winch,or a bullbar, or raised slightly), but not so much so that it is not easily recognisable.

Hi Marius
Some ideas, It looks to me like the SA flag is too long and stretched, it might look more in proportion if only across the letters SA.

Hi Ari Then I'm stuck with the letter "C" ;D Seriously though - from a design point of view - the flag used on the last three letters suggests/represents/symbolizes/emphasizes the larger South African involvement. Hope it makes sense Regards Marius PS - I haven't found a good pic of a Niva mod - YET. Anyone with a real good quality pic can post it here.
