Well I sold my Lada! A father bought it for his son. I hope he enjoys it as much as I did. I had it for almost 10 years... I would like to thank the LOCSA and its members for all the help and information you gave me, much appreciated. God Bless Henrie

Ok, so we all know that Henrie sold his Niva.
Now the new owner is experiencing some problems, but first some history.
Henrie allways used LRP and when he could not find any he used unleaded, then occasionally after using unleaded the car would not start towards the end of the tank, so he would clean out the carb with carb cleaner and leave it overnight and the next day it would start again. It is a carb and not a TBI. Strange all on its own, but be that as it may (Age of vehicle is unknown).
Now the new owner has replaced the electric fuel pump with a new new, cleaned and serviced the carb and replaced the plug wires and now the car wont start. When he puts the original fuel pump back it still wont start, puts original plug cables back and still wont start.
He then disconnects any plug cable from the plug and the car starts and idles. As soon as he re-attaches the plug cable the car dies and wont start until a plug cable is removed.
Any ideas? I have allready suggested alternator and battery.
A suggestion I have not made is that the dizzy might be 180 degrees out.

Probably a combination of things and I think part of the problem could be sediment build up in the fuel tank.

I have agreed to take the Lada back. The Grandfather bought the Lada for his grandson, the Dad was never impress with the boys decision...
I am not sure weather there was really any issues or weather the Dad was just looking for reasons to give it back. They will return it this afternoon and I will then have a look at everything.

Hope you can sort the problem with the starting out.
Start on three plugs and then dying when 4 plug wire is back on sounds weird to me

Lada's take time to adjust to new owners. They give their new owners hell for the first few weeks so that they learn the lada basics.

I spoke with the Dad, and I understand his concern. He was told by mechanics and part shops that there was no parts for Ladas. " irrespective of what I told him" The Lada is running but he doesn't trust it...

This may be way off the mark (if she's still not starting properly), but could it be a cracked distribtor cap. I once had that fault and all sorts of odd things happened. paulg
