I am Eugene in Bellville Cape town . I got myself a Lada as well but do everything on the motor , everything is new resprayed the motor overall the slave cylinder and new grease in cv joints but now i don't know if i must keep or sell the thing due to people talking so negatively about it.Can someone inform me what is it on the Lada that's breaking the hole time and what i must look out for.Hope we can chat

Hi Eugene,
If you can do all that yourself it will be cheap and easy to maintain, also you will not easily get the money you spent on the lada back , so enjoy the car for the reasons you bought it.

Hi fork (Eugene) Welcome to the forum. I have moved your post here, to a more suitable place from where you posted it. I agree with Ari, some really useful resources and links for you can be found in this thread: locsa.proboards.com/thread/1762/mechanic-needed but I figure you might allready of found most of those resources. The major things to watch out for are popping out of gear,5th gear problems, ensuring you tension the timing chain at a maximum of every 10000km and using only GL5 oils in diffs, steering box, tc and gb. No reason why you can't enjoy your Niva. All it needs is some TLC and common sense. A lot if it also depends on what you buy.
