Dear LOCSA Members
Since our previous newsletter in 2011 LOCSA has continued to grow in leaps and bounds. Membership now exceeds the 460 mark – that is growth of nearly 100%!
However – as with any other fast growing concerns – the year also provided its share of controversy and turmoil. LOCSA’s Management Structure was disbanded after a two year period of service. The decision was made by a majority vote from our active members, as most of us felt that such a structure was unnecessary. This decision was not accepted by everyone and it unfortunately resulted in the permanent departure of one of our most senior members.
However the decision was made to appoint a third Moderator to the forum and Events Organizers for each of stronger regions. Gauteng has showed the way forward and has actively started to organize Lada Meets. The next meeting is scheduled for early in the new year.
Another positive (and long overdue) step forward was the introduction of the LOCSA Forum Rules and Conduct of which the details can be found here >> www.locsa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=announce&action=display&thread=1371
However very shortly after the introduction of these rules of conduct, the Moderators had to act against a member for a serious breach of conduct. Sadly this incident lead to my first (and hopefully last) member I had to ban from the forum. The matter is currently sub judice and will hopefully be resolved between the parties in a peaceful manner.
Despite claims that the disbandment of the Management Structure would lead to the quick and certain demise of LOCSA we are still very much alive and looking well set for the future. It is clear that the survival of LOCSA does not rest in the hands of a single individual, but that our future indeed lies in the collective interest and will of all our members.
A final word from LOCSA is to wish every single member a safe and peaceful festive season and a prosperous and a happy new year.
Kind regards
