Ok so after a while I thought to return to the forum despite the not so user friendly new home and forum page. I finished my project and shes runs like a bat out of hell.
I have posted every picture there is about the build, only have a video of the dyno, but wont even try and upload it as I almost gave birth to a hedgehog last time trying to upload something on here,
However I am glad to report that she made a couple of ponies, although i would have like some more torque, beggars cant be chosers.
Can't remeber the exact figures but was something like 87 horsepower on the wheels with 119nm on the wheels as well.
Taking into account that the stock engine makes mid 50's on the flywheel without the 20%-30% deduction for driving train. I think it is safe to say that I managed to sqeeuze about nearly double the stock horsepower out of it.
I still have a speedo problem, since I need some kind of converter box for the mazda gearbox ratio to work with the Lada speedo cluster. I only know one place in Pretoria capable of helping me with it and they're charging me around R3k for it which I think is a bit steep. Will still have to do some homework on that one before just bending over for that price.
I drove it with a gps and can state that I am running about 3300 rpm in 5th gear making 105nm @ 130kph, if kicked back a gear at that speed I hit almost 4100rpm which automatically awakens v-tec and you get the kick in the back if more uhmf is needed.
For those who would like to know the detail of the management system, its go-tech pro-x. and was tuned by a very friendly and helpfull guy called maruis in capital park area pta. Would highly recomend him.
What I still like to do on the project is create some kind of spare wheel mount, swing arm setup for the rear since there is absolutely no space under the bonnet left with the mazda's enormous head.
I also managed to swap all the globes except the tail lights to LED and xenon, along with some nice LED spotlights, which is really nice.
I am taking sputnik out for his first fishing trip ths weekend and will be towing meduim trailer and exited to see whats what on the open road and if it was worth while doing all that extra sound deadening, and small extra attention to detail.
The total project cost at this stage is more or less R28 500.00 give and take a few bucks, due to some jewish dealing and selling of all unwanted and unused spares.
I also still need any 15" wheel steel or mag, for a spare, and have two 16" wheels in steel for someone else to use or to trade if necesarry, since I would like to keep the same size all round.
Would like to thank all whom helped me complete it, and were exited with me to get it done and also kept me motivated.
Ill post a finished pic of the car on the facebook page since I allready explained the reason for not posting here, for those interested in looking at sputnik!
Have a good one!
