Hi all
What follows underneath is a VERY GENERAL DRAFT adapted from another forum for Members to consider. Please feel free to suggest amendments and additions but please be short and to the point.
FORUM RULES OF CONDUCT Any LOCSA Member may participate actively in the Forum.
You can use the Forums to: • Ask questions related to the Lada Niva • Discuss anything related to the Lada Niva • Share your experiences with your car with other Members • Ask general motor industry-related questions not necessarily related to the Lada Niva • Post ideas, configurations, and solutions that you have tried • Assist other users
*Please note that the “Lounge” has been created specifically for Members to discuss anything that is not related to the Lada Niva.
The LOCSA Forum is a free service sponsored by Proboards. The information posted, referenced, or linked to within the Forum is not guaranteed, warranted, or represented as complete or accurate. The LOCSA Moderators reserves the rights to edit or delete any post and the discretion to accept, reject, or ban any Forum participant for any reason.
Any information that you post on the Forum becomes public domain and may be viewed, shared, linked to, referenced in other sources, and otherwise distributed freely. The Forum, being a public-facing information source, provides no expectation of privacy or security.
GUIDELINES FOR USING THE LOCSA FORUM 1. You should have a valid LOCSA Forum account to post in the Forum. You can create this account by registering through the Forum interface. Anonymous names/posts will not be allowed and such posts are subject to deletion. 2. The Forum has several sub-Forums. Make sure that you post into the sub-Forum relevant to your topic. Forum duplication of content across multiple sub-Forums is discouraged. 3. File attachments larger than 1.5MB are not allowed. 4. Describe your question in detail. Our Forum users tend to be technically skilled and the more information you give the better. But it is also important to be brief, as 1000-word dissertations are likely to go unread and unanswered. Try to get your message/question across in less than 12 lines or so. 5. Be civil and polite. Do not use insults, profanity, epithets, or degrading language. The Moderators of this Forum will not tolerate this behaviour. 6. Do not use the Forum as a way to promote other products, to advertise, to conduct "viral marketing" campaigns, or to otherwise appropriate the Forum for purposes other than what it is intended for, or for the benefit of others or yourself. Users may put a link to their Web site in signature lines or link to relevant reference material in their posts, but users should not make non-related offers. 7. Do not abuse this Forum as a venue to carry on personal grudges or to register complaints and criticisms. Service related complaints and criticisms are allowed, provided that the content is not abusive or insulting.

Everything looks good except this line.
"The LOCSA Moderators reserves the rights to edit or delete any post and the discretion to accept, reject, or ban any Forum participant for any reason."
Maybe there should be some guidelines on this, such as if 5 members complain and that all the moderators agree unanimously.
Ari

Ari Your input is very much appreciated Ari but I do think that the above discretion should lie with the Moderators only - hence the reason for the increased number of Moderators. Interference from "outside" would most definitely give the impression of favoritism in my book. Marius

There should still be guidelines on why a post should be removed, even if it is at the discretion of the moderators. Ari

Guidelines were included:
"5. Be civil and polite. Do not use insults, profanity, epithets, or degrading language.
6. Do not use the Forum as a way to promote other products, to advertise, to conduct "viral marketing" campaigns, or to otherwise appropriate the Forum for purposes other than what it is intended for, or for the benefit of others or yourself."
These are the suggested "misconduct" items.
As for waiting for 5 members to complain may be bit to long.

If something gets said that is insulting or degrading it will get deleted asap.
Ari I agree with your point but on some occasions that will take too long. We try and remove bad behaviour from the forum as quickly as possible to keep the forum clean. In short we want to prevent fights.

Well Ari at least there are now three dictators! ;D ;D ;D
Seriously though I can suggest that Moderators make the decisions in this regard but Members are free to object to the Moderators decision. Members objections should be lodged to Proboards directly as required by the rules (just don't ask me to show you the rules on Proboards! ;D).
I hope that would be exceptable to all.

Ronnie Marius We do not need to modify "Rule 7" Members have to option to report any post they feel is in contravention of the rules. A pop-up banner appears on the Moderators screen when they log-in.The "report post" button sits at bottom right of a post above the "quote, modify" buttons Spikes

Ronnie that is basically what the Proboard rules require, but yes I agree that would drag out the process even more.
I just feel that we should let the Moderators do their job - and that is to be the Moderators.
AND perhaps even more important - it would avoid huge and unnecessary arguments.

Just a thought. Why not make it as follows: If a person complains about a post then all 3 moderators must decided together if the post must be delete, this will eliminate the idea of somebody been biased towards a person and if there are more than 5 reports to the mod's on a post then the post must be automatically deleted.
