Thanks Danie! The best part, is that my work in the Forestry industry gives plenty of oppertunities to use the Lada on gravel and beautiful scenery Spikes

Thanks all! I'll show all your appreciative replies to my wife. At the moment she is still comparing the Lada to the Suzuki SJ410 that we had since 1983. Spikes

I think Ronnie's Lada must be the only one in the world that can be used to pull chicks...

Just be patient Darryn, and keep up the hard work. The hard hitting small chicks eventually get all soft when they see a good looking Lada. ;D

Hi all, Thanks, yes actually my wife is the better photographer. As for the driving the Lada, she cut her teeth driving the small 4 cyl Unimog while we were based at Long Tom and had 2 Bulldozers making the road to the top of Mauchsberg. Hairy driving that small open 4x4 with 2x210 l drums of diesel on the loadbed. :ada keys stays in my pocket for the time-being Cheers all Spikes

Thanks for all your posts. We've been working on tha Lada for the last 4 years - unfortunately little things like earning a salary keeps interfering ;-) The whole car is actually a mod. We started of with an empty shell and added as we went along. The engine conversion was however decided from day one. She's been stationary for most of the time the last couple of months. Found out that the lisencing is about 10 years in arear and still missing a windscreen. Everything considered she is one hell of a nice (powerful) toy to play with in the veld.

Hi Loukie
Thanks for some very interesting feedback.
Any possibility of starting a new Thread with more pics and more specific detail ?
I am sure many of this will find your project very interesting.

Hi Ari I hope to take her to the small village where I grew up in the Eastern Cape called Rhodes - also snow country. Here is another pic of our Niva when we got it in a more swampy area.

Hi Marius That "Melkbos Fun" pic surely is a reminder of what we are working towards, and slowly but surely we will be getting there........... Right now I will have to set up alarms and "booby traps" outside in my garden........last night my new next door neighbor saw strangers strolling around my house, peeping through windows, walking circles around my wifes car..........now that the soccer world cup event is over, the criminals seem to be back in "business"..... Sorry, I've hijacked the thread............ Regards Danie

Thanks Ronnie Coming from the coastal area she has two rust spots on the left rear window. Very common place to start. I will attend to it soon. She has never not get me home and deserves a bit of TLC PS - those sliding windows - not sure if Jan masterminded it though I remember someone in Cape Town started doing it shortly after we bought the Niva. There were some issues with leaks though - so we never did it. Regards Marius

Hi Marius
I notice some Lada`s on the Australian forum with sliding windows. As far as leaks go if you spray water on them with a hose it goes through the seal on the sliding part. However, all this type of sliding window is the same and is fine in the rain. I shouldn't have fitted them I should have put in an Air con.
Regards
Ronnie
