Hi Ari yes i was the origional owner, and my wife tells me it was bought at the motor show in october 96 not at the rand show.I had it for about 2 years then bought a 110 defender.I now have a 2000 lada. we have some pics and freda will scan them and post them here. After me a man in Primrose or Wychwood Germiston owned it, (still have the knife he gave me) after that i never saw it till last night. We were through the game reserves in Botswana and Namiba in it many times. More to follow later.

Hi Ari,
We are trying to trace all the owners of our old Lada, could you work backwards and help us? We wish you as much fun with her as we had. If you need to know anything about the mechanics of the vehicle please do not hesitate.

I agree Danie, it will be very interesting to also meet the previous owner of my Lada. The amount of sound cables I removed out of the Lada, I think it was a rocking boombox on wheels.
Regards.

Hi Ronnie - you could just have a look at the topic : "How to upload "nice big pics" - Mike explained the different steps to load big pics, but firstly, you will have to create an album, and load the pics at a website like www.photobucket.com . So if you just register at www.photobucket.com , just follow Mike's instructions under the above mentioned topic. Regards Danie

Hi hercules. Thanks for the comments. The Lada was rebuilt by Jan at Lada Centurian. When we decided to buy one again my wife decided not to allow me to do it my self. The result was the Lada was bought, rebuilt, and the first time i saw it was when i flew up to collect it.Not the ideal way. Lots of things not to my choice, but need to live with it for now.At least it drives like a new vechile. regards
Ronnie

Hi Hercules, your roof rack looks good.Dont know what other load you are going to carry,we had 40 litres of water, 40 litres petrol roof top tent, long range petrol tank,[60 litres i think] plus, plus, etc,and had to fit heavier springs to cope off road, this was with Ari`s lada, mostly in Botswana.I would also like to kit out my lada, but when you are on pension it is not so easy. Make sure you enjoy yours while you can Regards.

Ronnie, I do not carry to heavy on the roof due to I'm towing a trailer aswell. On the roof we carry 30lt of water, 40lt of petrol, a 3kg gasbottle. 2x ammo bins with all the lighting and gas cooking equipment and pot and pans, a toolbox with tow ropes, shacles, funnel, jerrycan spout and maybe a bag of wood or two. I try to keep the weight below 150kg. My vehicle is also equipt with the standard 42lt fuel tank. In the back we carry a cooler box, a tool kit and a fire extingusher. The rest of the stuff goes into the trailer. My coil springs is stiffen a bid and I got heavy duty Gabriel Safary shocks fitted, but gonna replace it with Monroe gas shocks. The ride is very smooth and the Lada carry the load well.
Regards.
Hercules.

Nice pics Ronnie, and I like the waving National flag on the last pic..............reminds me of the USA.
My one son finds himself in the US permanently, and whenever we visit him, it is so nice to see so many waving National flags - proudly mounted against private home walls.........

Ronnie, I guess that flag cost you a fortune ? It is a shame that flags are so expensive in SA.
The US flags are so cheap ....... apart from being proud citizens, no wonder so many US citizens mount flags against their walls.
Regards
Danie
