Hi Conrad I "need" the adjusting bracket. LOL Can you perhaps trace it or make a "paper / tinfoil sample" and post it to me.
Regards Stephen

Dimitris, the model number on the alternator is 0 124 415 002. I was told that it is from an Opel Corsa sedan, but the auto electrician didnt know which year or model.
It also has the numbers Br14-m3, and Kc b2 printed on it. i think that these may refer to the type of voltage regulator it uses though. Maybe someone more clued up can confirm?
You say I have a 1600 bracket, does that mean that the alternator I have is also from a 1600?
Steve its going to be really difficult to make or give the dimensions of the original adjusting bracket as its curved. Im assuming you want to try and make one?

Hi Conrad My alternator 0 124 415 023 is from an Opel Diesel too but it have different tensioner bracket. Yours are better. Yes, your alternator bracket is from Niva 1600. Look the difference between 1600/1700.

Thanks Dimitris! This will help all who want to upgrade or just replace the Russian alternator with a local model Spikes Hi Spikes and all there. Here all niva 1700 have the alternator bracket that you see in the photo, and alternator with integral diode plate and voltage regulator. The russian alternators of 1700 were very problematic so the Lada Car Dealers change them by alternators ISKRA (Slovenia) Also, as I have written another time here there are not Niva 1700 with carburettors.

Thanks dimitris, that definitly means that I had the 1600 alternator then!
Yes I can see what you mean by the tensioner. Mine is in almost exactly the same place as the original alternators.

Conrad, your Nivas there may have a little different specifications. But do not worry. The 1600 bracket is better. The 1700 bracket is made from aluminium and sometimes it breaks.

Steve, I measured the tensioner for you, and can give you the exact specs if you want. Personally I wouldn't try and make the curved adjuster. It'll be easier to make a L shaped bracket that is adjustable both up and down as well as left and right. That will more than make up for the curve.

I fitted the alternator this weekend, and am pleased to report that its working well.
Dimitris, I have a question for you. Did you also find that the alternator touches the rubber engine mounting?

Good morning Conrad. No, it doesn't touch. The distance between the engine mounting and the alternator is almost 1 cm.

I think that the spacer - ring make the problem. Are you sure that the three pulleys are on the same line?

Hi Dimitris,
Thank you for posting that picture. Yes the pulleys are all in line, but I think I know why mine touches. I am still using the original belt. I will buy a longer belt like you use.

Conrad Thank you so much. I've also replaced our Alty in the lada with a Bosch replacement. Made an adjusting bracket, but now the Fanbelt (was new) has stretched a bit and I need to make adjustments again - bracket made just a bit too short. On my first attempt the Alty also touched the Mounting Rubber and Bracket - a few sparks flew when the Battery was connected. Everything is now sorted.

Sorry I misunderstood, I thought you were looking for the dimensions of the original bracket, not the new one.
The new bracket is also approximatly 12cm long. I couldn't make it longer as it would have fouled the radiator hose.
I'm lucky in that the alternator is only touching the rubber and doesn't short out, but I will get a longet bet anyway. It can't be good for the plastic housing to be pressing on the engine mount constantly.

Just some feedback on this, the dual battery system and alternator are functioning well.
I just came back from a 2400km trip, and the only issue I had was that it would squeal occasionally at start-up because the new belt had stretched slightly.
Unfortunately the fridge does seem to run the battery flat faster than the solar panels can recharge it though. The limit I discovered is 4 days parking in one place before the battery dies. All in all I'm happy with this, as I will seldom camp this long without driving the car somewhere.
