Supposed to show the picture of the boot area ;D What I would like to know is what carpet material did you use on the plastic trim on the sides - AND more importantly - how did you get it to fit so neat?! Is it just cut and paste? Best interior carpet work I have ever seen in a NIva! Marius

I have no idea how the guy did it and what carpet he used. Im guessing he put the carpet over the original plastics and formed it with a heat gun.

I think it is a good idea, for the boot, but not for me, because Allen+mud+carpets=angry wife.

It's very beautiful...but how do you turn the steering wheel with the 30/9.50/15 tyres? I do not see having power steering.

Thanks guys, its currently getting an all round brand new brake set up. New calipers, discs and everything that goes with brakes. On the steering side, well no it does not have power steering, but its fine without it. Was a bit of getting used to as my Alfa's steering is very light, but it drives easily enough though and steering isnt a problem at all. Its also very comfortable on the road and quiet. The car has been sound proofed as well and the new shocks make a huge differance. Might do a power steering conversion in the future.

There were some serious problems with the brakes. Im not sure as the car was sent in to a brake specialist and they will be replacing everything. Im sure it would be the same type of calipers. Would have to let you know when the car is back.

Hi Rehan Me also very interested in the Brake Repair. Our Lada was send for Brake repairs, but there's not much of a difference after the repairs. We do not have much options here in Paarl.

The lada was sent to norbrake in boksburg. They found that the (knuckle) cradle and hub are bent and new calipers cant be fitted onto the front right disc. Already found new parts and will be fitting them shortly.

Thought I'd update a bit on the vehicle. It is now almost done.
*New brakes all round which I understand have been modified for more stopping power and better handling. *New calipers, discs, drums, cradle, hub, knuckles and high tensile bearings. *New Kumho tires have been fitted which were imported. *New coil shocks. *Also fitted an electric fan, removed the load sensor and did a full service. *New dynomat soundproofing and waterproofing *Treated for any rust and to stop any potential rusting. *New mirrors
So many things have been done this is only what I can remember.
Only stuff left to do is to finish replacing floor carpet with rubber kickplate, Replace exhaust, some new rubbers, new gaslifts and fix the play on the steering.
Modifications left to do: Find wheel arches that will fit, connect spotlights, replace seats, build new roofrack and put in a sound system.
Future jobs would be to maybe respray the Niva KTM or that land rover orange and fit a snorkel.

Hi Rehan
Sounds as if you have been doing plenty of work to your Niva. You will find it has been worth while. I hope you have many happy years of driving it.

Thanks guys I will send him a pm soon. Wemt off roading a bit last sunday and the rear coil springs fell out. Theyre not original. Luckily we found a set of oldmanemu springs for a Niva from 4x4 megaworld. Will be fitting them tomorrow.
