So if you are suspecting a diff noise you can swop between front and rear drive to eliminate one or both of the diffs.

Hi Ronnie / Marius
Can you remember whether your Ladas (Ari's Lada in Ronnie's case) have had any whining noise at the Gearbox area , when the Ladas were still new ?

Hi Danie
It is a long time ago but I don`t remember having any issues with noise of any kind. I complained about vibration, and it started jumping out of 3rd gear (I think it was 3rd). This was attended to under warranty. Apart from this the Niva was trouble free and I was doing about 50000km a year. If I compare the Niva to some of the Toyota LDV`s we bought for the business the Niva was the most trouble free of them all.

Hello All.
I would like to know if there is a special way to remove the Transfer Case. I have to the fix the transfer box's mountings, gearbox back seal and TC mountings bolts.
Regards, Allen

Hi
Not really.
Remove the props Remove the speedo cable Remove the 2 wires for the difflock light Remove the nuts holding the CV to the TC flange Remove all the center consol trim (gear knobs, plastic and rubber covers)
The loosen the 4 mounting nuts and remove. TC is quite heavy so be ready for it. You dont want to drop it.

Hi Allen
A few more things to consider >>
Once you have loosened the nuts somewhat push the TC all the way back on the rails in order to get the intermediate shaft away from the TC.
Use a trolly jack to support the TC and lower it slowly whilst holding the TC steady.

Allen, if you interested, Spencer and I are getting together at my place on Sunday to replace his thrust ring, which means dropping the TC and GB.
