Hi Spikes
I have not done the Mana Pools trip But the Botswana one I have done many times and is very worth while. The problem with Botswana is the cost which is horrific to say the least. I hope there is not much rain when this trip takes place as Kubu Island could have you trapped for days.

These trips look awesome, but sadly out of my price range, especially when you factor in the fuel costs

Hi Conrad
If you can, save up even if it takes 2 or 3 years you will not be disappointed. Botswana at the right time can rival Serengeti. The game reserves in Botswana do not have rangers watching over you and the animals wander through the camp sites. You can`t get closer to nature than this.

Hi Ronnie,
Park fees and accommodation costs in Botswana Park escalated to such and extent that prominent 4x4 tour operators have cancelled their complete schedules for B.

Hi Spikes
I don`t know what the park fees are now but they have been 120 Pula a per person per day for a few years. The camping fees went out of control when the Parks Board privatized most of the camp sites. I would hope now the ablutions have been revamped as some of them like 3rd bridge were more suitable for one of the Locations. Even with the new fees if you have never been there it would still be worth it.

Hi Spikes
I have just checked and the fees to enter the Botswana reserves are still 120 Pula per person per day. Expensive but cheap compared to some of the parks in other African countries which are in US Dollars. The big problem now is the camp sites which can cost 200 Pula per person per day. Some of the reserves you can stay just outside the reserve in Community run camp sites which are reasonably priced and then do day trips into the reserves. Zimbabwe is still cheap and places like Mana Pools are outstanding.
