Charles, you're not the only one having problems with these.
I can tell you what doesn't work, and the that is the loctite you get for bonding rear view mirrors to the windscreen. The longest I got these handles to stay on with it was a month. The moment I left the car parked in the sun, the handles fell off again.
I am now planning to drill and tap a 4mm hole into the back of the handle and screw it to the glass. Ill let you know how that works out once I get the diamond tipped drill bits I ordered for drilling the glass.

Hi Conrad
My problem is that I only have one of those handles. If I can not find something locally that will work I am going to make another plan.

ahh sorry I thought you had them both.
Sadly I don't know of a local replacement. Most of the cars I have seen with those types of windows like the beetle had the latch built into the window frame and because of this they wont work.

I seem to remember my Mom driving an Austin which had latch windows, with the latch secured to the window not the frame, I will check with my parents during the week.

Hi Spikes
It was Vincent who re glued his with a 2 part Loctite product. When dry you could not pull them off even if you wanted. Unfortunately I do not know the Loctite number. When I speak yo Vincent I will ask him to post the details.

Spikes the 1400 ones slides in underneath the glass. Also almost impossible to find after market and over R200 from a dealer.

Are you guys talking about the two triangle Windows's in the front? If so I've had this same problem on my lada with the latch bonded to the glass falling off my farther and I fixed it with clear epoxy and that was years ago, hasn't come off since then.

Hi All
I see on the UK forum they are using Loctite 350 2 pack to fix the Quarter light catches on and they swear by it. One member glued the catch at an angle and can`t get the catch off to fix it.

I don't know if it is a genuine part or after market. The local importer sells them.

This is a piece of metal shaped U with the part that you want to glue on the glass....and you must place on it the old handle.

Hi Conrad
I bought these parts many years ago ...... more than 10 years. As you know the new generation niva (after 2000 ??) do not have these little triangles windows. So I do not know if these parts still exist. The next few days I will ask all the shops that I know and sell parts for niva, here in town where I live and in Athens, and you'll have an answer.

Just a note
Rusti's handles still have not fallen off. They are glued using Loctite 7075 and 324 Speedbonder available from any Bearings International.
Keeping the glue warm speeds the curing process up (Under a minute for a bond you can handle) as you start to shake trying to hold the latch straight.
Regards Vincent

Thanks for trying Dimitris, I appreciate it.
Vincent, the loctite 324 sounds like the right stuff. Ill give that a try.
Previously I tried the loctite Rear View Mirror Repair Adhesive, but its scared of the sun. Every time there's a hot day it takes the window latches and goes to hide under the seat.

Put them on BEFORE the beers. Would not be funny if you glue them on skew.
