Hi Spikes
I can mention that when Darryn and I fitted our tyres Johan pointed out that there was too much play (esp on Darryn's bearings). He torqued them by hand making sure the wheels are running free. Just make sure your brake pads are cleared from the disk.
At first I was a bit nervous as I thought it would be too tight but after a couple of thousand kms the bearings are still fine (I hope).
Another thing I can mention is that I use a blue grease (marine type). Unfortunately the brand I am using is no longer available and I still can't find a suitable replacement in the North West.
I was hoping Vincent could comment on this type of grease and perhaps even recommend a replacement.

Thanks for the info Marius, both bearings gave up the ghost but the inner one went first(quite a while back I think). The outer cage is broken. I had the left wheel jacked up today and there is play on those bearings as well. Main reason why i did not pick it up earlier is due to road noise on the gravel roads that I travel. And deafness on my part. Who knows maybe just maybe it was the 15" wheels with 195 tyres
regards all Spikes

Hi Guys...... Lada Centurion ? Still there last week when I telephoned to check on the correct size of the fan belt for CERATOTH. I want to take a spare with me when I do eventually get to make that drive to Cape Town. Jo (Li's sister) is not now coming back to SA until November. Guess she likes the USA too much ! I know that there are differing opinions (with some strongly held views) about Lada Centurion and I do not what to start or get involved in any debate about them (sorry); but they have always given me good advice and treated me fairly and with respect. As do all you Guys on this Forum.......thanks and regards, Keith and CERATOTH

Hi Keith
Although we had some serious complaints against Lada Centurion in the recent past - it is great to see that you get excellent service from them.

Hi Keith Good morning. When will you be coming to Cape Town? We live in Paarl, close to the N1 on your way to Cape Town.
Regards Stephen

Hi Stephen. All I know is that it should be sometime in November Sorry to be so vague about this but it depends upon when Jo (Li's sister) is coming back from the USA as we shall be staying with her and helping her sort out the house. I'll keep the Forum posted as to when we actually leave....and yes; it will be good to 'meet up' if at all possible. Regards and best wishes, Keith and CERATOTH
