Thanks Conrad, I did not know about the waterfall.
I guess the route starts somewhere down Shongweni valley ?

Thanks for the nice comments guys.
I think sometimes we take for granted how beautiful the country we live in is.
Danie, the trail starts at the quarry in Shongweni. If I'm not mistaken its at the end of a road called the D755

Hi Conrad,
If the pics shows the worst parts of the course it was a walk in the park for the Niva! As you obviously learned (or know) if you keep the speed low in low range, and the tyres at the right pressure there are basically no place where a Niva can not go where another 4 x 4 went before. There may be the odd 4 x 4 that will do better and then only the ones with diff-locks or LSD's.
However, if the speed goes up a lot, the Niva may suffer here and there (independent front suspension).
Always think twice before taking on a long stretch of mud. Then it got nothing to do with the vehicle, just the tyres (and if you still own money on the vehicle; the bank).
You have the best wheels/rims for the job too.
We appreciate the beautiful pictures. Thank you.
Regards,
Fanus

I have to agree, so far there is no where the Niva hasn't been able to go. It makes difficult terrain look easy, you just point the car in the right direction and it does the rest.
The only limiting factor is my lack of knowlege, not the cars lack of ability

Hi Conrad
Did you have to pay any entrance fee to the landlord to get access to the route ?

This is the waterfall that comes out from the lta quarry in peacevale? I've gone down from the otherside of the waterfall where all the dirt bikes go down with my niva it's scary there's a 3/4 mtr drop straight onto clay which is great fun in the rain. I really like your pics, viva niva!

I didn't even know you could get there from the opposite direction! As far as the 3/4m drop is concerned, I think Ill leave that to braver souls. If I tried that I think the ringing in my ears from the better half screaming would only subside after a week or two.
PS I agree, pics aren't appreciate, there are demanded! ;D

I'll be taking pics over the weekend and I've just got to figure out how to get my pics onto this forum coz I've tried posting from my laptop & iPad with no joy(and the size file is appropriate). Yeah Conrad a standard niva is not made for that and that's why I built mine so if I break something it doesn't mean the end of my world as I have a daily driver and the niva as a toy. It's funny I used to be an enduro rider but after many a Saturday being stopped and fined by the police in peacevale not mentioning the expense of running a bike, I started my project and haven't looked back. There are many extreme trails in the Shongweni area that once i've completed my live axle conversion I'll be able to tackle but all in good time as they say!

One tip you may have missed when posting pics, Do not PREVIEW. It deletes the image or file that you have selected
