Vincent your reply shows me nothing and certainly does not answer my last question. Shouldn't you rather post something in the "Let's have some Coffee Thread"?

Fanus if I can give you some advice don't waste your considerable writing skills by posting on this forum. Write a book and go to a publisher instead and enjoy the sundowners!
I have given my three compatriots the chance to respond to my question(s) but since I received no reply I would like to make an end to this farce with the following response. There is a lot more to be said here, but I will keep it short, in the hope that at least one of them will make it through to the end.
It is abysmally clear to me that neither Ronnie nor Ventz actually bothered to read any of my posts in this matter. Even after I graphically displayed two different nuts, Ronnie still insisted that I mentioned only one nut!
If Ventz were only to glance at the illustrations he would have immediately recognized the two nuts and would have saved himself the trouble of attempting to post a pic in this thread. Yet he was very quick to make the following statement "In general > Ronnie is right, Marius is wrong - no any comments, just facts." What a complete waste of my time and energy!
This morning I got an interesting post from Vincent in the "Lets have some Coffee Thread" clearly demonstrating my point exactly. I do appreciate the "effort to defend " his loyal friends though, but I must say I am once again deeply disappointed in the "no response" after the fact. I find this whole incident utterly disgusting and I am deeply disappointed that my fellow members can act in this way.
In the light of the above I will now lock this thread and it is entirely up to the individual members to make their choice in this regard. My final remarks will follow.

Final remarks for those who are interested:
1. There are two nuts/systems involved. One pre-97 and one post 97 as per 2003 parts manual.
2. Most Nivas imported into South Africa should have the post 97 nut/system. This will include both the CMH and Vanchester imports.
3. However the spring washer that was introduced in 1995 has since being replaced by the lock washer. The lock washer is illustrated in both the 2003 and 2007 manuals as part number 2101-1701243. This lock washer is exactly the same as in the old pre-97 system as indicated by Ventz in a previous post.
If you want to keep the spring washer instead of replacing it with the lock washer be prepared for expensive repair bills. Just to replace the 5th gear and cluster would set you back R8000 from one of our local suppliers and this does not include labour. The lock washer will cost you no more than R10 and if you shop around will cost you even less. Take your pick!
The other alternative is to DIY your own lock washer OR you could insert an appropriately sized washer between the nut and the lock washer to prevent the excessive vibration that was mentioned earlier by Ventz.
I personally will not recommend a second washer(spacer) but just make sure that the extra washer don't interfere with how the lock washer should fit on the nut.
As far as vibration is concerned - I have had the lock washer at least since 2008 and the vibration is no different from when I had the spring washer fitted. At least one of our members can testify to the amount of vibration I have in my Niva - which is virtually none.
For those with the old system (pre 97) - the circlip is still available from the suppliers in the EU and Russia. I got one accidentally as a "gift "in my last order. Part number 11066276.
