Perhaps the engine mounted unit was replaced with an electric pump?

Interesting post ... I'm just wondering if it ever got sorted out. Would be a shame if that beauty is still standing. I had huge frustrations with a starter at ons stage. Replaced 4 solinoids, complete overall new bushings, etc and a very annoyed Auto- Electrician ( he hated the removal and cursed those russian designers many times) Then someone in Potch found the problem. One bolt was stripped and didn't fasten. He replaced the bolt and the problem was solved.
