howdy, dunno excactly what you would look for but buy it anyway (might not be the best advice you gonna get, but we gotta get the ball rolling), it's a proper little beast mines given me headaches i never thought was possible, just ask around on the forum very helpful bunch glad to say that they pretty easy to work on and a pleasure to mess around with meanwhile here's a start www.ladaniva.co.uk/baxter/resources/newbies.htm

Welcome! Baxter's "newbies" is a very good starting point. The one your are looking at mus be one of the very first to be imported. Is it a 4 speed gearbox or 5 speed? Regards

Hi tank congratulations on your NIVA!! Those 4 speed 1600 are really worth rebuilding back to factory specs. Once it is tip top it will not let you down either.

Hi Tank Welcom to the forum.I also bougth a Niva resently . The guys on the forum are very helpfull. The forum was also one of the reasons why I desided to join the Niva owners . Mine is still not in the shape that I need it to be, but some one once said that life is not a destination but the journey getting there. Enjoy Christo

Sounds like a torn diaphragm in the carb. Best would be to remove the carb and give it a good cleaning and check all the parts.

Hi Tank, Yes, that's what I referred to. At some stage a previous owner had a secondary fuel tank fitted. The one that Ari has, has the second tank fitted and that would have been the filler hole.
You can still get the tanks from MAKRO outdoor section.
Ronnie wrote and extensive thread on fitting and coupling-up the fuel tank.
Importing was the cheapest option when NIKKI imported the starter, but take it to an armature rewinding place. They should be able to sort it out. Local Auto-Electricians do not do that kind of repairs.
Good luck

so on closer inspection and actually tinking about how an engine works i had a little look into the engine bay and saw a bracket that holds nothing... then i checked the manual and i see the fuel pump is missing?? might be a stupid question but i do need a fuelpump yes?? should i post this in technical instead?? when i bought it the fuel line had a little fuel filter then the pipe went straight to the carb???
