Welcome to the new LOCSA message board. The old one started giving problems. Hopefully everyone will enjoy it even more.

Hi Kobus Again, thanks for your hard work during the past couple of years to keep this website going - really appreciated. Hopefully all owners will also make a special effort to keep this website alive in future.
Just a suggestion : By visiting other international Lada websites on the Internet, it became clear to me that the involvement of sparepart suppliers, who usually are technical specialists as well, do play a major role in keeping those websites alive.
I do not have any doubt that the local sparepart suppliers in South Africa could also / still play a major role by keeping this website alive - obviously also by supplying advise to our local Lada owners.
I am aware of only two "official" sparepart suppliers at the moment - Jan Pretorius (Centurion Lada) and Chris Swales (Pinetown). Any possibility of contacting both suppliers - trying to get them involved on this website? I know that Jan supplied advice a couple of years ago, and who knows - one of them (or both) might be interested in getting involved again.
Should they not be interested, I beleive that we would have to rely on technical advice from abroad again - in which case the name(s) of foreign sparepart suppliers might also be reveiled.
Just for the record - there seem to be a technical problem on the LadaRsa website, and I regard the Locsa website as my "official" home. I am also aware of another LadaRsa member who do have problems to get access to the LadaRsa message group. Because of this problems I have already lost all interest in LadaRsa.
In appreciation of your loyalty and hard work of the past, I honestly hope that this website will be a huge success in future.
Your assistance / advice in the above named regards will be highly appreciated.
Regards
Danie

Hi Danie
Thanks for your kind words. My brother-in-law, Willie Vos, talked me into starting the website. At one point in time they got someone else to take care of the website but nothing came of it. He has since sold his Lada.
Johan van Vuuren also withdrew from LOCSA because of business commitments. I am still trying to locate Edu de Jager to try and find out if he is still involved with LOCSA.
In the meantime I am doing this because someone has to.
I would appreciate if you could supply me with Jan and Chris's email addresses (if you have it).
I think it is a great idea to get them involved. If anybody knows about any other Lada 'dealers' please let us know.
I must also thank you for the big contribution you have made to the message board. You practically kept it alive.
Are you referring the the LadaRSA group at Yahoo. I believe it was started by Edu and Johan and as I mentioned Johan has withdrawn completely.
Best regards
Kobus

Kobus Jan's contact details can be found on his website : www.ladacenturion.sa.gsI am not aware of any website of Chris Swales, but his tel. no. is 031 7008903 Johan van Vuuren might still have Edu's contact details - Johan's contact details should be on his website www.seebots.sa.gs . Perhaps he can assist in supplying Edu's contact details. And yes - I was referring to the LadaRsa group at Yahoo. Regards Danie

Hi Gene
Welcome - it's always nice to meet enthusiastic Lada owners here !
Any possibility of telling a bit more of yourself - perhaps in the "Intoduce Yourself section" ?
I might seem to be very "nosy", but I can assure you - it works very well on other forums wich I am part of.............members always seem to be more willing to help , or give advice - if they "know" each other better !

Danie

Thanks Ari, Hercules. To be honest, I do not see myself as the "main peanut in the packet" here.
To my mind, the success, or failure of this website depends on all of us.
I've just had a look at the latest statistics about this website, - which clearly indicates that this website is facing a great future !
Since Kobus started the new Forum on 5 September, (exactly two months ago) 41 different Topics generated 282 posts, which have been viewed 2 667 times !
The fact that the "Technical section" has already been viewed a staggering 1 182 times, clearly indicates that there is a huge demand for technical information amoungst our local Lada community !
So again, I wish to make a serious appeal to everybody : Please, share your Lada passion, and knowledge, with us ! Many valuable information is lost for ever, because previous Lada owners never shared their own "know how" with other owners !
Regards
Danie

Ifound the old message board but it only has 48 messages.

When I bought my Lada four years ago, Jan was involved on the Forum - passing comments on inquiries.
That forum eventually collapsed due to spam, and I am not sure if anything could be retreived.
From what I have seen here since Kobus started the new Forum two months ago, I am more than convinced that sharing information by private owners, is the way to go.
I stand to be corrected, but I always got the feeling that technical modifications on Ladas by private owners, as well as using any part other than original Lada parts, have seriously been discouraged on the old forum.
( Nothing against the local "official" importers, but I beleive they should also respect the intelligence of the average Lada owner.)
After all - Lada Nivas are not rocket science technology, and many owners find themselves in places very far from Centurion, or Pinetown ...........so why not helping them to keep their Ladas on the road ?

WELL DONE DANIE on your 100 plus i will catch up to you soon i'm sure. It has been great fun up till now and I hope that we get alot more LADA OWNERS JOINING AND OFFERING ADVISE. As for Cape Town well i hope between Gene and myself we will recruit a few more. just a suggestion why not put a section for spares and and 4x4 parts for sale as i'm sure many people will be interested to sell or swop parts between Lada owners. i have been involved with many car clubs and forums in the past and am still today. will pass on a few ideas as we grow and move along.

Thanks Mike - and thanks for the brilliant idea.
A new Topic for spareparts for sale / to swap has been started under the "Technical" section.

Ronnie, there are still many beautiful Ladas "up and running" in our country - and this website already prooved that there are many passionate and happy owners as well !
I have no doubt that if more and more happy owners are prepared to share their Lada experience - this website can only get better !
Mike, anyone who might be interested in Ladas, are more than welcome to join this forum !

Danie

Hi all Thaks you for all the wellcome wishes! Took the Lada for a 265 km round trip in Sabie/White River today (Sasol Rally viewing) Quite light of fuel, got 13.1l/km(Sorry I grew up with mpg).Battery seems a bit iffy.Wipers slows down considerably with the headlight on. Other that that all seems fine Interesting to read the posts about Centurion Lada. Pity though! Regards to all Spikes

I'll keep it for our ladies with great pleasure. A few buyers came, all of them are happy, but everyone wants to negotiate. It's open to negotiation about the technical details, accessories, the time, COR, delivery, etc. No way for the price! The car deserves its price.
